Spotify is looking in 2024 to remove paying royalties to bands/artists who don't perform with their idea of enough streaming volumes. This is clearly aggregious and possibly illegal, as these bands/artists are entitled to proper payment for every single stream their songs get.
We're pretty sure they will still keep all their revenues, from subscriptions and commercials played between those songs, though. I mean, no reason NOT to make money on those artists, even if the artist gets none, right?

If Spotify follows thru with this, we will no longer include Spotify in our new music uploads, unless our artists request that we include Spotify in our release cycle.

Others have suggested that the move indicates Spotify may eventually begin charging artists to host their music on the platform
