We try to call for help when the world goes sideways, but in the case of Danyal Hussein, the system proved it’s basically "out of service" when it matters most. If you aren't the "right kind" of victim, 999 is just a busy signal.
The 999 response wasn't just slow; it was straight-up dismissive. While the family was frantic, call handlers were busy mislabeling victims as "suspects" and closing logs based on "inaccurate" info. The IOPC eventually called the service "unacceptable," but "unacceptable" is a pretty polite way to say they left a family to find their own daughters' bodies in the bushes while the cops did literal nothing.
