Many people don’t know that a huge reason I finished college was in homage to my grandfather James Little. He was born POOR poor on the south end if East St. Louis in 1930. He not only jad poverty working against him but southern Jim Crow, and eventually the draft into the Korean War. As a student putting himself thru school by working full tine and going to school part time he was not taken off his course to improve his life via education, not even by war.
He won a purple heart in the Korean War for his heroics as a medic and as a thank you for taking a wound via an explosive. Fast forward college was completed.
Many people don’t know he was a single father, and that I channel him daily…For a few years my Grandfather raised his first 3 kids as a single parent after my biological grandmother passed away. 3 little girls, all of whom are pictured above. Eventually he married my Grandmother (Nanny 🥰) and completed the family with 2 more boys.
Which lead to more degrees, cause kids aint cheap. lol. As a family man he took on 2 different masters programs to enhance his marketability and bring in more to support his family. Once again using Education to make a way.
The picture I used for this post is perhaps my proudest because It was tge day I graduated college in 2009 and my family, Grandfather included, was there to see it happen. What he put in place back in the 50s, has benefitted me and all his descendants since. I stand on his shoulders and I work and strive in his lineage.
Its been 5 years since we lost grandfather and I still cry about it sometimes, but not like I use to. He visited me in a couple dreams to let me know he was with God in paradise and to keep living with God first in my life so I can see him again.
Love you Grandfather, and thank you for loving me.
