Weather Update: The dry weather will persist across much of the eastern United States throughout the weekend and into the early part of next week. However, it now seems that significant rainfall will finally return to the eastern regions, helping to alleviate the short-term drought conditions that have developed. Many areas in the East have experienced virtually no rainfall this month, leading to extremely dry conditions. In fact, water levels in several lakes have decreased significantly due to this dryness. Today, thunderstorms are expected to occur across the central plains, stretching from Iowa down to Oklahoma, bringing gusty winds and small hail. Meanwhile, a low-pressure system off the Southern California coast, remnants of a tropical system, is bringing rain to San Diego and Los Angeles this morning. Rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue into tomorrow across Southern California, Arizona, and Nevada, with flash flooding being a major concern. In tropical news, Tropical Storm Gabrielle appears disorganized this morning, with its low-level center exposed and most of its convection displaced to the north and east. The storm is anticipated to move through the Atlantic and into the North Atlantic by late next week. 🌧️🌩️
