Myth Ink Books Independent Publishers of the Weird, Eclectic and Profound. http://www.mythinkbooks.com Fiction & Non-Fiction Anthologies, Horror Chapbooks & More!

ABOUT MYTH INK BOOKS https://twitter.com/MythicDocWho Jessica Burke and Anthony Burdge have been writing and editing for the past 13 years. Their work as Independent Scholars, in the realm of Tolkien and Mythopoeic Studies began with articles, essays, and critical work that earned them The Beyond Bree Award for outstanding contribution to Tolkien study. For the better part of 10 years, they ran Heren Istarion: The Northeast Tolkien Society, and during that time coordinated conferences, gave lectures, and enjoyed some success with their critical work. Anthony and Jessica consider themselves, first and foremost, writers of weird and eclectic tales, especially those in what would be called a Lovecraftian vein. In 2010, their first collection of academic essays, edited with Kristine Larsen, was published by Kitsune Books, The Mythological Dimensions of Doctor Who. The success of that volume spawned a second volume in 2012, The Mythological Dimensions of Neil Gaiman. Jessica, Kristine and Anthony, along with editor Anne Petty, had envisioned what was to be a series of academic work written by fans for fans. Unfortunately, Kitsune Books closed their doors at the end of 2012. After many years of being a bright point in the world of independent publishing, after bringing work to print that would have never seen print in the conventional mass-market publishing world, it was heart-breaking to see the close of Kitsune. Jessica and Anthony decided to create Myth Ink Books in the months that followed Kitsune’s closing, predominantly with the inspiration to keep the independent publishing spirit alive. They reissued both titles in the Mythological Dimensions series under Myth Ink, and released their first collection of weird fiction, The Friendly Horror and Other Weird Tales. It is their hope that Myth Ink Books can help those who’ve written work that others may find just a bit too weird, eclectic, or profound for print. Myth Ink Books has several future volumes planned, both fiction and critical work. Myth Ink Books seeks to publish what would be deemed Weird Fiction, Horror, Fantasy, and similar styles of fiction, as well as the related critical non-fiction and academic work. Currently Myth Ink Books is not open to unsolicited submissions. Anthony S. Burdge (Editor/Author & Social Media Contact for Myth Ink Books), an independent scholar, was first introduced to the existence of Secondary Worlds via the work of J.R.R Tolkien at an early age. Since taking that first journey out of Bag End with Bilbo, he has traveled with the Doctor, hitchhiked with Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect, been a crew member aboard the USS Enterprise, walked under an eldritch moon toward R’yleh and entered the realms of the Sandman numerous times. In addition to his academic articles on various topics ranging from Mythopoeic fiction to local lore and legend, Anthony is grateful to be a part of collections such as The J.R.R. Tolkien Encyclopedia, Translating Tolkien, Encyclopedia of Children’s Literature, You and WHO 2, plus working with authors across the planet for the Mythological Dimensions series, The Mythological Dimensions of Doctor Who and The Mythological Dimensions of Neil Gaiman. Jessica Burke (Editor in Chief/Author at Myth Ink Books), is teacher by trade and a self-professed Geek by nature. She’s an avid bibliophile, self-taught herbalist, a fan of cats, songs about Cthulhu, and sushi. The most formidable experiences in terms of writing for Jessica involve two of her literary heroes: Neil Gaiman and J.R.R. Tolkien. Jessica first heard about Neil Gaiman while in college―when she “borrowed” a copy of Sandman: Fables and Reflections. But it wasn’t until a decade later, when attending ComicCon, that she became reacquainted with Gaiman’s work―when he appeared to read some of Bod’s Adventures. Hearing the author himself do a reading from his work is second only to one other experience in terms of inspiration― hearing J.R.R. Tolkien read on LP. When she was five years old Jessica discovered a recording of Professor Tolkien reading “Riddles in the Dark” from The Hobbit in the local library. It was a formative childhood experience. Hearing Gaiman as an adult was the natural successor as both authors have had a profound effect on her life and work. Jessica has published on a range of topics from J.R.R. Tolkien to Beowulf to Doctor Who.

Mission: It is our hope that Myth Ink Books can help those who’ve written work that others may find just a bit too weird, eclectic or profound for print.

Eldritch Tides

Our new book "Eldritch Tides," a joint effort with Cryptocurium 's Jason McKittrick, is now available on Amazon!

Synopsis:
The unrelenting, destructive force that was Superstorm Sandy moved ashore near Seaside Heights, New Jersey early on October 29th, 2012. A long forgotten artifact, churned up by the storm, washed ashore: to be discovered by a fledgling cultist Jeremiah Allen. With the knowledge revealed to him by the Elder Tablet, Jeremiah followed in the footsteps of his ancestors as he pursued the dark magicks contained therein.

After his evaluation of Jeremiah, the attending psychiatrist at Toms River Psychiatric Unit, Dr. Gilbert Halsey contacted an old friend at Miskatonic University. When Dr. Nora Danforth heard and saw the news, she agreed to travel to Tom's River to investigate The Elder Tablet.

With little knowledge of what he was doing, Jeremiah then uses the tablet to wake what can only be described as "...a hideous, luminous giant of viscous jet black protoplasmic mass, and iridescent eyes..."
