The holidays are a magical time filled with love, laughter, and giving. And what could be more heartwarming than a puppy under the tree on Christmas morning?

But here’s something to consider: while it’s a beautiful moment for your family, it can be very stressful for a young puppy. The hustle, the noise, the excitement — it’s a lot for a little one just starting to explore the world.

✨ That’s why we recommend a gentler start. ✨
At Justine’s Retrievers and Doodles, we believe in setting our puppies (and their families!) up for success. Our next litter of gorgeous, well-socialized puppies will be ready to go home mid-January — after the holiday chaos has settled.
💛 A quieter home means:

Easier transitions for your puppy
More time to bond and train
A calmer, more joyful beginning for everyone

🎁 Still dreaming of a holiday surprise? We’ve got you covered!
We can help you create a magical moment — with photos, puppy care packages, and personalized announcements — so your loved one knows a puppy is on the way, without the stress of bringing one home during the busiest time of year. We're so happy to share an update on Charlie, from the December 20, 2018 litter!
Charlie is officially a big boy now, and truly the bestest boy there is! His main job? He's a certified Expert Snuggler! If he's not busy mastering the art of the cozy cuddle, you can find him constantly seeking out those much-deserved butt scratches.

He came into our life and truly healed our hearts.

🐶 An Amazing Update on Henry the Goldendoodle! 🐾

We love getting updates from our puppy families, and this one about Henry is simply wonderful!

Born on May 5, 2023, this handsome Standard Goldendoodle has settled into his home perfectly and is bringing so much joy to everyone he meets.

A Star with the Grandkids and a Therapy Dog!

Henry has truly exceeded all expectations. We're thrilled to hear that he's fantastic with the grandkids, showing his patient and loving nature. His temperament is clearly shining through!

Even more impressively, Henry has turned out to be a great therapy dog! This is a testament to his intelligence, calm demeanor, and incredible connection with people. Being able to provide comfort and support is a very special gift.

Thank you so much for sharing Henry's success story! He's a perfect example of what a loving, well-socialized Goldendoodle can be.

🐕🧡 THE GREAT ORANGE BALL MYSTERY 🧡🐕

So I've noticed something hilarious... My two golden retrievers will ONLY play with their orange ball. Like, we have a whole basket of balls, but nope—orange or nothing!
And get this—Shadow the Goldendoodle? ALSO obsessed with an orange ball!

Is there some secret dog society where they've decided orange is THE superior ball color? Do they see it better? Is it the vibes?

My take on the orange ball obsession:

Yes, color likely plays a significant role! Here's why:

Dogs see colors differently than we do. They have dichromatic vision (similar to red-green colorblindness in humans), meaning they see mainly in shades of blue and yellow. Orange likely appears as a bright, vibrant yellow to them—making it stand out really well against green grass or other backgrounds.

High visibility = more exciting to chase. That bright yellow appearance is probably easier for them to track when it's moving, which makes the game more rewarding and fun. Green, red, or brown balls might blend into the environment more from a dog's perspective.

Positive reinforcement loop. If they had a few really great play sessions with the orange ball early on, they may have associated that specific color with peak fun times, reinforcing their preference.

It's really interesting that three different dogs (two goldens and a goldendoodle) all independently prefer orange—it suggests this isn't just random preference but something about how that color registers in their canine vision! These dogs might just be smart enough to know which toy gives them the best visual advantage. 🧡

Happy birthday to Shadow, who will be turning one year old on November 14th! 🥳 That's such an exciting milestone.

I bet he's grown so much in his first year. It sounds like Shadow has a very clear favorite: the orange ball! That's adorable.

Does your dog have a favorite color?

🐾 Adobo (aka Canyon) Update! ⛰️

Can you believe this summers Mountain Litter pup is already 4 months old and a sturdy 27 lbs? 💪
Adobo is living his best life, which apparently involves a serious dedication to fashion (those morning walk outfits are on point 💅) and a deep, deep obsession with socks.

Currently navigating the "land shark" phase of puppyhood, though he's a tiny bit ahead of the curve—he already lost his upper canines!

  • You’ll love your little puppy, she’ll make your house a home. She’ll be your very best friend, you’ll never feel alone. She’ll make you smile, she’ll make you laugh, She’ll fill your heart with love……. Did she come from a breeder or did she fall from heaven above? If you’ve never been a breeder or seen life through their eyes as you hold your little puppy, please don’t criticize. You don’t know of all the anguish and the times that bring such pain. When we lose the battle with a little one and the tears flow like rain. Sometimes we sit the whole night through waiting for babies to be born. Oh the stress and trepidation when they’re still not here by dawn. Or the panic of holding a tiny baby in our hands who weighs but 60 grams Do I do this instead of that or that instead of this? Alone we fight and hope we won’t give him his last little kiss. We pray he’ll live to bring some joy and make a house a home We know it’s up to us and we fight this fight alone. Formula, bottles, heating pads, we have to get it right Two hour feedings for this tiny guy throughout the day and night. In our hearts we know we are probably going to lose this epic fight but we keep trying to save him because God willing we just might. Day one he’s in there fighting; we say a silent prayer Day two & three he’s doing well, with lots of love and care Day four & five…..he’s still alive, our hopes soar to Heaven Day six he slips away again, dies in our hands day seven. We take this little angel and bury him alone: With aching heart and burning tears and an exhausted groan We ask ourselves “Why do this? Why suffer all this grief & pain? To help them live to grow up strong and see the joy your puppy brings – this self explains. So when you think of breeders and label them with “GREED”, If you have a happy & healthy puppy it’s cause they filled his every need. When you buy a puppy, and with your precious dollars part, You only pay with money … we pay with a piece of our heart. –Author Unknown
