HUSBAND CONTRIBUTED 20%, WIFE CONTRIBUTED 80% — BUT WHOSE NAME SHOULD BE ON THE PROPERTY DOCUMENT? 🤔🏠
A married couple decided to acquire a property together.
The husband was the one who sourced the property and handled the process of finding it. However, when it came to payment, the wife contributed 80% of the money, while the husband contributed the remaining 20%.
After several discussions and arrangements, they successfully acquired the property.
Months later, the husband was going through some documents and stumbled upon the property papers. To his greatest surprise, he discovered that the property was registered in his wife's name alone.
He was furious!
According to him, even though his wife contributed 80%, he also contributed 20% of the money. Besides, he was her legally married husband. So, why would she acquire the property without including his name in the documents?
He felt cheated, disrespected and excluded from something they had worked together to acquire.
But the question is: Was the wife wrong for putting the property in her name alone, or was the husband being unreasonable because he expected his name to be included despite contributing only 20%?
Perhaps the wife had her own reasons. Maybe she believed that contributing 80% gave her the right to register the property in her name. Or perhaps there was more to the story than the husband knew.
Now, let's hear from you! 👇
WHO IS RIGHT AND WHO IS WRONG IN THIS SITUATION?
Remember, this is a marriage, not a business partnership. Or does marriage make a difference when it comes to property ownership?
