🔒 DuckDuckGo Introduces AI Image Filter
New Feature
Users can now hide AI-generated images from search results.
Access Points
Within the Images tab via a dropdown menu labeled “AI images.”
In search settings under the option “Hide AI-Generated Images.”
🧠 Why It Matters
Addresses user concerns about AI images cluttering search results.
Part of a broader effort to limit low-quality “AI slop” online.
🔍 How It Works
Uses manually curated open-source blocklists, including:
uBlockOrigin’s “nuclear” list.
uBlacklist Huge AI Blocklist.
While not perfect, it significantly reduces AI-generated image visibility.
🔮 What’s Next
DuckDuckGo plans to add more filters in the future (details not yet disclosed).
📸 Contextual Note
The feature was demoed using “baby peacock” searches, referencing past Google criticism for prioritizing AI images over real photos.
