Firefighters battled a challenging structure fire early Tuesday morning after flames spread through the attic of a single story home in the 1800 block of Jackson Street.

According to Lodi Fire, all crews responded around 1:30 a.m. and arrived to find an active attic fire.

The flames quickly spread throughout the attic, eventually causing the roof of the home to collapse. Difficult access to the fire created challenging conditions for firefighters, who worked for approximately 40 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

Firefighters remained at the property throughout the night on fire watch to ensure the scene remained safe.

No one was inside the residence when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

According to Stockton Police, officers conducted a welfare check in the 2200 block of Hackberry Street around 12:43 a.m. after receiving reports that someone had been stabbed.

Officers located the 72 year old woman suffering from stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later located the suspect and took him into custody without incident.

Kevin McKinsley-Harris, 21, was arrested on suspicion of homicide.

No additional information regarding what led up to the deadly stabbing has been released.

A 72 year old woman was killed in a stabbing early Tuesday morning in Stockton’s Park District.

According to Stockton Police, officers conducted a welfare check in the 2200 block of Hackberry Street around 12:43 a.m. after receiving reports that someone had been stabbed.

Officers located the 72 year old woman suffering from stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later located the suspect and took him into custody without incident.

Two men were injured in a stabbing Sunday evening in Stockton’s Seaport District.

According to Stockton Police, a 21 year old man was in the 300 block of South Stanislaus Street when a known suspect arrived, caused a disturbance and allegedly cut him.

A 24 year old man who attempted to help the first victim was also cut during the incident.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect fled northbound from the area in a vehicle. He was described as a Hispanic adult male. No arrest has been announced.

A 34 year old woman and four male juveniles were robbed at gunpoint after going to an area of Stockton’s Civic District to sell items.

According to Stockton Police, the victims went to the area of Mighty Oak Drive and Oak Forest Avenue when multiple suspects emerged from a field armed with fi****ms and demanded that the victims get out of their vehicle.

Several of the victims fled on foot. Police say one victim was assaulted by the suspects, including being struck with a stick.

One victim was transported to a local hospital with a non life threatening injury.

Police described the suspects as one Hispanic male and nine males of unknown race. No arrests have been announced.

A 54 year old man was arrested after allegedly charging at two elderly residents with an axe in Stockton’s Park District.

According to Stockton Police, a 72 year old man and 71 year old woman were in the backyard of their residence in the 1600 block of Pato Court with a known suspect who was moving his property out.

Police say the suspect became upset, used an axe to strike the fence and then charged toward the two victims with the axe.

The suspect reportedly dropped the axe before either victim was injured.

Fernando Santos, 54, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

A 28 year old man suffered life threatening injuries after being stabbed during an argument in Stockton’s Valley Oak District.

According to Stockton Police, the victim was arguing with a suspect in the 9200 block of Kirkby Lane when the suspect allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him in his left side.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a life threatening injury.

Police took the suspect into custody without incident.

An 18 year old man was shot while sitting inside a vehicle in Stockton’s Park District.

According to Stockton Police, the victim and his friends were in the 3100 block of East Main Street when his friends went inside a nearby business while he remained in the vehicle.

Police say several gunshots were heard and the 18 year old was struck by gunfire. His friends transported him to an area hospital, where he was treated for a non life threatening injury.

The victim’s vehicle was also struck by gunfire.

Police have not released any suspect information at this time.
