Behind the scenes on location in Washington, DC for a day of interview production.

There’s a lot happening outside the frame with cameras, lighting, audio and monitoring, but the goal is to make all of that disappear once the interview begins.

At Rui Pinho Creative, interview driven storytelling is a big part of what we do. Whether it’s documenting an organization’s history, capturing the people behind a company or building a larger documentary piece, it starts with creating a comfortable environment and a strong conversation.

Here’s a little of what that process looks like from behind the camera.

New work for the Wireless History Foundation

This piece features wireless industry leaders looking back at their first mobile phones and what those early devices meant to them.

Produced in conjunction with William Sarris Productions RPCreative handled the edit and published the finished piece to the Wireless History Foundation’s YouTube channel.

I always enjoy helping turn these longer interviews into focused stories that preserve some of the history behind the industry.

On location in DC today filming an induction video for Jim Bugel and the Wireless History Foundation.

I’m here with William Sarris Productions, as we continue our work together documenting stories for Wireless History.

Projects like this are exactly why I enjoy documentary-style production. It is not just about cameras, lights, and audio. It is about creating the right space for someone to tell their story clearly, honestly, and in their own words.

Today’s setup included a multi-camera interview, controlled lighting, clean audio, and a quiet room built around the conversation. These kinds of legacy and recognition videos matter because they preserve the people behind an industry, not just the milestones.

Grateful to be trusted with this story.

A lot of organizations run great lectures and public programs. The problem is they disappear after one night.

I just published a case study on Destination: Georgetown, a five-part lecture series presented by The Granite Church in Redding, produced with William Sarris Productions, and Daryn Reyman-Lock.

I edited the full series and second-shot the final two lectures, turning live talks into an on-demand video resource that can keep educating (and representing) the organization long after the event.

Most institutions host exceptional lectures every year.

The challenge is not expertise. It’s preservation.

Just published a new case study from a project I produced with William Sarris Productions for History Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation.

We helped turn a ten-part lecture series into a polished, institution-ready program with multi-camera production, slide integration, captions, and delivery files built for long-term access and continuing education credit.

If your organization runs lectures, talks, or educational programming, this is a good example of what it can look like when it is produced for longevity, not just recorded.

I’m beyond thrilled to share that I’ve been awarded a Boston/New England Regional Emmy® for my work as Producer and Editor on Showman’s Shorts, a project created for the Barnum Museum!

The award comes in the Historical/Cultural – Short Form Content category, and it’s an incredible honor to have this work recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
