I'm really trying to come up with a routine that works for me because it makes a world of difference when it comes to my autistic anxiety. The struggle with decision making and executive function is so real. If my day is not already planned out, I don't know what to do with myself and I end up just binging comfort shows.

Sorry, friends. Life kinda got in the way for a while. I've been pretty overwhelmed and learning to cope with new things is a struggle. I'm back in therapy though. I have my first session with my new therapist tomorrow. I'm excited for what lies ahead.

I am mortified and I can never face this man again. 😭 But in all seriousness, it seems like many of us have such a strong compulsion to say what we're thinking. Unfortunately, because we think differently, it does not always occur to us that what we say may come across much differently to neurotypical people than it does in our own heads. It's such a struggle.

After a particularly rough struggle with mental health the week of Thanksgiving, I've become passionate about raising awareness and trying to make change. This is still the case but I've been pushing myself too hard lately with life in general. The burnout is hitting me pretty hard right now and I have to start my new job tomorrow. I'll probably just share memes and repost other content for a few days. For any ND people that need to hear this, you can and SHOULD take a break. Please take this to heart. I am just learning this at 31 and if I had known before now, I feel like my life would have been different. Self care is essential.

Individuals with high support needs can have intellectual capability. The problem is that their severe deficits in communication skills and adaptive behaviors leave them unable to communicate what they need and limit their ability to physically do these things for themselves. It's all there but they are trapped in their own brains. Individuals with intellectual disability do not have that same capability and understanding. They are unaware of their own needs. While high support needs autism and intellectual disability co-occur at a very high rate, they are NOT the same thing.

I still don't have the words to fully express how this makes me feel. The world IS broken and this is part of the reason why. We SHOULD be able to open up about our disabilities. This person, who has similar disabilities, attempted to publicly shame me for advocating. Comments like these are so harmful to the disabled community in general. This is part of why I decided to start making content.
