Sometimes the biggest changes happen little by little. 🌼

From a girl who once needed to be kept close - to one who now chooses to stay close—even when she has the freedom to run. ❤️

We are still a work in progress, but watching Daisy explore with confidence, then turn around to make sure her people are still there, will never get old.

Sometimes the best trails are the ones that give the littlest hikers a reason to keep going. 🥾📖

The main Nature Trail is only 0.80 miles, but we added a few of the spur trails and ended up hiking about 1.25 miles. Along the way, the Storybook Trail kept Little Man moving from page to page while Daisy had plenty of things to sniff and explore. 🌼

And there’s more here than just hiking! The park also has a separate dog park, playground, swimming pool, and picnic areas—so there’s plenty to turn a short hike into a full family outing.

📍KANAWHA STATE FOREST | Charleston, WV

Would we stop here again? Absolutely. 🐾

We explored part of the 2.5-mile Davis Creek Trail, a beautiful wooded trail that follows along the creek and gave us exactly what we were looking for — shade, water, and plenty for Daisy to sniff along the way.

And apparently, we weren’t the only ones enjoying the trail. 👀 We found both deer AND bear tracks in the mud! 🦌🐻

We only hiked a portion of Davis Creek because our crew had other plans for the day — namely spending a few hours playing in the creek, catching crawdads, and enjoying a picnic. Sometimes the best adventures aren’t about finishing the trail. 💛
