This year I made a video in honor of Mikey for International Overdose Awareness Day which is on August 31st. This is a day to remember the ones we’ve lost to overdose. It’s also an important day for education and a way to end the stigma. Mikey lit up every room he walked into. If you knew him, you know he brought a lot of joy, happiness, and wholeness to many people. Mikey is more than the way he died. Today I’m asking you to learn the signs and symptoms of overdose, what to look out for. Know that overdose is preventable. Mikey is more than a statistic or number for the year 2023 (the year he passed). He was a beautiful person who loved to be the life of the party. His death could’ve been prevented and Porter would have her dad in her life today. We miss you more and more every day Mikey.
