Two Cats Press is proud to announce publication of a new memoir by Joyce Sorensen. *Together Through Korea and Alzheimer's* tells the remarkable story of two people whose young love remained steadfast, despite her family's determination to thwart their marriage and undermine Joyce's motherhood, Dick's deployment to Korea and, later in life, his retreat from Joyce due to Alzheimer's.

Told from Joyce's perspective, the memoir also includes portions of the many letters Dick wrote while away from her, both while working and also in Korea. His tender, poetic words comforted Joyce and kept her sane during a time when both of them faced tremendous challenges.

Dr. Gladys McGarey, widely known as the "Mother of Holistic Medicine," will be the featured speaker at an event taking place at the Wigwam Resort in Phoenix on November 23rd.

Dr. Gladys, as she likes to be called, is internationally known for her pioneering work in holistic medicine, natural birthing and the physician-patient partnership. She co-founded the American Holistic Medical Association in 1978. Her work through The Gladys Taylor McGarey Medical Foundation has helped expand the knowledge and application of holistic principles through scientific research and education and is helping bridge the gap between traditional and holistic medicine. Currently, she and her Foundation are actively involved in healthcare reform. The Foundation’s recently published position papers articulate a new vision for healthcare and have been widely distributed. Dr. Gladys is also the author of three books, “The Physician Within You,” “Born to Live,” and “Living Medicine.”

She will be speaking at the launch of a new anthology of stories, discussing the similarities between the practice of medicine and the craft of writing. The anthology is the newest from a group of Phoenix-area writers known as The Inkslingers, and it is a collection of memoirs of life in the Southwest.

Tickets for the event, which includes lunch and a copy of the anthology, are $33.00.
