One of my students sent me this photo today and it honestly made me so proud 🥹🤎

Rough cuts, stretched shapes and visible fingerprints can make even a beautiful design feel unfinished. The good news? A few simple adjustments can give your pieces a cleaner, more professional look. 🤍

👐 Condition the clay thoroughly
Well-conditioned clay is easier to cut and less likely to crack.

📏 Keep the slab thickness even
Use an acrylic roller or pasta machine for consistent results.

🔪 Press straight down and lift straight up
Avoid twisting or rocking the cutter, as this can create ragged edges.

🌸 Choose your edge style intentionally
Cut directly for crisp edges, or place plastic wrap over the clay for a softer finish.

🧽 Clean up after baking
Once completely cooled, file or wet-sand any uneven areas.

This weekend I’m trading my studio table for a little booth at a local summer makers market 🌸

I’ll be busy setting up displays, chatting with lovely people, and probably rearranging earrings about fifty times before I decide they look right 😅

There is something so special about seeing handmade pieces in person and meeting the people who connect with them.

Once the weekend is over, I’ll be back in the studio working on a few new designs I’m really excited about ❤️
