Living legend of the mandolin, John Reischman, brings an intimate evening of acoustic music to The Belfry with his band, The Jaybirds. Old Time fiddle master Darin Gentry will warm up the crowd with his group Danger Gently.

About John Reischman:
Grammy Award-winning musician John Reischman has been a foundational mandolinist, composer, bandleader, and musical educator in bluegrass and North American roots and folk music since emerging from the vibrant “new acoustic” bluegrass music scene of the Bay Area in the 1980s. A member of the groundbreaking Tony Rice Unit, Reischman’s mastery of bluegrass, old-time, swing, and multiple Latin American musical styles, coupled with an Old Master’s sense of tone, taste, and musicality, has brought him a global reputation as one of the finest mandolinists of his era.

We love our Open Mic - bring your original songs, especially ones about small towns, bring your fledgling bluegrass band, bring your mom up to sing with you. The sky is the limit with our open mics. This is your chance to shine on stage or just try it out for size. any and all welcome, especially listeners!

Open mic will be Friday and Saturday evenings at 6 pm.

And don't forget to register in advance and get entered into a drawing for cool door prizes :)

Its been a while since we posted, but Big Owl Studios is going strong and continuing to record great acoustic music. Here is a really cool thing that happened: the 2019 MacKenzie-Adkins recording was picked up by the Garrison Keillor Store! A nice plug for both the Studio as well as musicians Kate MacKenzie and us Adkins.

About the project: This project marks the return of a nearly 20-year recording hiatus for Kate MacKenzie and is a labor of love bringing three friends together along with a collection of some of the finest musicians in the Northwest. Without trying to define the boundaries of the musical genre, Kate, Dale and Suzanne chose songs they love to play and sing together in their cozy community in Oregon where they live.
