Sona’s parents founded Mike’s Camera Store and she worked there for many years, which helped develop her love of portraits and photography. She graduated from Fairview High School and then from Brigham Young University with a degree in Fine Arts/Theater. For the next couple decades, she worked in LA in both television (Golden Globe Awards, Coach, Coming of Age, Children’s Miracle Telethon and othe
rs) and then at Beacon Pictures Film Studio (The Commitments, Princess Caraboo, A Midnight Clear, A Life in the Theater, Sugar Hill). After she left the studio, Sona collaborated with a good friend who wrote the script for “Galaxy Quest” and co-produced the film with DreamWorks, holding premieres for the film both at Mann’s Chinese in Hollywood and here locally at the AMC 24 Theater in Westminster. Sona married her best friend, Elia Gourgouris, and together they have raised two boys: Nicholas and Dimitri. She enjoys spending free time traveling, hiking, seeing theater and movies, reading, skiing, horseback riding, playing board games, and especially spending time with her family.
