UPDATE: The tornado watch has been allowed to expire as there is no more major threat for tornadoes. Stay alert in case things change as it is dark and things may change quickly and be invisible to the naked eye. Light rain will continue throughout the night.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT: Strong winds with gusts between 40 and 50 mph are expected to
occur for up to a 1 to 2 hour long duration as rain tapers off, Late this morning into the early to mid-afternoon. These winds will mainly be out of the southwest, but may be more out of the south or southeast at some locations. Winds of this magnitude will make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles and may blow small objects around.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING: At approximately 2:13 pm a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles southeast of sycamore. 60 MPH winds and 1 Inch hail is possible. Damage to structures including roofs is possible. If outdoors seek shelter inside and stay away from Windows. More information soon to come.

At approximately 2:30 DeKalb fire department reported power line down south of route 38 on Peace Rd. Avoid the area as the road south of route 38 is currently shut down while the lines are being repaired by the DeKalb fire department and Comed.
