Update: 2:10 PM - The bulk of the fire is out. Extensive Damage to the home. Red Cross is on scene to provide assistance

Fire crews are working a major house fire at 2980 County Line Rd., Skaneateles (reported 12:11 PM, 1/20/2026), with the south end of the home initially reported fully engulfed.

A roof collapse was reported around 12:25 PM, followed by a wall collapse on the delta side around 12:48 PM. Crews transitioned to defensive (outside) operations as multiple departments and additional tankers/manpower were requested. Responders have also reported water supply issues, with tankers filling in the village to maintain operations.

BREAKING: Syracuse Firefighters were dispatched at 10:14 a.m. Tuesday (1/20/2026) to a reported house fire at 953 Emerson Ave.

Initial reports indicated a multiple-occupancy home on fire, called in by a passerby, with everyone out of the building. Radio traffic reported possible extension to a second nearby house, but an on-scene update at 10:15 a.m. reported fire on the second floor and not spreading to other structures.

Operations are being handled on TAC 2. More details will be posted as information becomes available.

🥶 Arctic Cold & Lake-Effect Snow Ahead 🌨️

Central New York is heading into a bitterly cold stretch over the next week, with below-normal temperatures and periodic lake-effect snow. The heaviest snow is expected in the persistent lake-effect bands across northern Oswego County and southern Jefferson County, while other areas see lighter snow and flurries. Wind chills will make it feel even colder at times.

A business jet diverted to Syracuse Hancock International Airport after an in-flight control issue left the flaps reportedly stuck. The Embraer Phenom 300 (N329MC), originally en route from Greenville-Spartanburg to Binghamton, landed safely and taxied to the gate while ARFF monitored the landing. No injuries were reported.

Seven residents were displaced but everyone made it out safely after a house fire early Sunday morning at 1606 Bellevue Ave. in Syracuse.

Syracuse Firefighters were dispatched at 2:43 a.m. and encountered heavy smoke inside the 2½-story, two-family home. Crews quickly located the fire in the rear of the building, brought it under control within about 10 minutes, and fully extinguished it within about 20 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Investigators say the fire originated in a first-floor rear stairwell and the cause remains under investigation. Working smoke detectors alerted the occupants in time to escape, and the American Red Cross is assisting those displaced.

🚨 Lunchtime Stabbing at Brooklyn Pickle 🚨

During its 50th Anniversary celebration, an altercation over a photo led to a man being seriously stabbed inside Brooklyn Pickle. Syracuse Police and AMR crews responded immediately; the victim was rushed to Upstate University Hospital. Police are reviewing surveillance and canvassing the area.
