I live in Spain now and some of this still gets me.

Bidets in places you’d never expect. One ice cube in your drink if you’re lucky. Water at restaurants is not free. Stores don’t open on Sundays and no, that’s not negotiable.

Oh and the knife never leaves your hand while you’re eating. Ever.

Number 7 though is the one nobody warns you about. And it still catches me off guard every time.

Watch to the end.

England ruined American travel for me and I don’t think I can go back.

In America, a day trip means:
Driving an hour.
Finding parking.
Walking to your car to get to the next thing.
Driving home exhausted.

In England, a random Tuesday looked like this:

Train into a medieval town.
Out the door, on foot.
Castle. Tea shop. Cathedral. Bookshop. Pub. Hidden alley. Ancient wall.
Back on the train.
Home before dark.

No car. No logistics. No planning.

Just walking.

The thing that genuinely shocked me was how many incredible places we found by accident.

We got off at the wrong stop once and ended up somewhere we still talk about.

That has never happened to me in America.

England isn’t just full of history. It’s built so that history finds you.

And because so many people asked where we were going, I built a free interactive travel map of all the villages, towns, castles, food spots, and hidden gems we actually loved.

Nothing sponsored. Just places we’d go back to.

An American just admitted 5 things Britain does better.

And honestly? I can't argue with a single one.

The last one changed how I think about daily life.

Brits, be honest. Did we get this right?

I remember this like it was yesterday, and the mixed reactions we got when we told people

This time last year, we went to the beach closest to our home. It was so grey and cold. This is what a June beach day in Washington looks like a lot of times.

We went with some friends who have a daughter, close to our eldest's age. We told them at the beach how we were going to do it. We were moving abroad.

We were moving to Spain, most likely. We did not have it all figured out, but we had decided it would happen in the fall.

They lamented how they wished they could do the same thing. The husband was from Montana, and his parents had moved out the year before and actually bought a house near us.

The grandparents watched their granddaughter for about half the week. The parents split the childcare with the grandparents. So they were able to avoid the almost $2,000 daycare bill that hit us every month.

They loved the idea of moving abroad, though, but knew they wouldn't get his parents on board. The husband had even turned down a job in Scotland, even though that was their dream country to live in and where they celebrated their honeymoon.

Their faces and reactions were mixed by our news. We had been talking about wanting this for as long as they knew us. They were happy for us, but I think they were sad to see us go, and they were also feeling mixed, as they felt tied to a place they didn't necessarily want to live in.

It is actually wild to think about that cold and grey day on the Washington beach. There was no one there. No families out besides our own.

Today we went to the beach here in Valencia. The beach was so full of life and happiness. There were so many places to sit and shop. The playground had kids for my kids to play with. Life was happening and thriving.

Looking back, it feels surreal. We actually did it. We changed our circumstances. Our life is so full and bright. We have made so many memories with our daughters.

A lot has changed in the last year. I am so thankful we did this. It was a lot of work. It took a lot of faith and courage, but we just knew we needed to make this change. Tomorrow we will be looking at a house where we can walk to this beautiful, thriving beach. I am genuinely excited about our future.

I am so grateful for this beautiful life and family.

Thank you all for supporting us along this journey!

I know nothing about football.

I grew up calling it soccer. Half of America still does.

And yet the biggest sporting event on the planet just set up shop in our backyard — for the second time.

June 11 to July 19. 48 teams. 16 cities across the US, Canada, and Mexico. The final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

I’m not saying it’s wrong. I’m just saying — if football were a religion, America would be the country that just discovered the church and immediately asked if there’s parking.

How does this keep happening?

Brits — I want your honest take. 👇

There is etiquette, and then there is a crime against burgers... which camp does this fall into?

Also, when they flash their headlights at you twice, it doesn't mean there is a clown with an axe in your backseat, much to my surprise

I traveled to the UK with a Starbucks habit and left with a Yorkshire Gold one.

And honestly that swap ended up being the perfect metaphor for everything I was about to learn.

The first place we stayed didn't have a coffee maker. Just an electric kettle and a box of teabags. And something about having to slow down, boil a kettle, and sit with a cup of tea started shifting something in me before I even noticed it was happening.

British culture, especially outside of London, isn't focused on what you own or the brand on your cup. It's focused on value. On experiences. On time with people. On making your money stretch without making a big deal about it.

Coming from a life where I was very focused on acquisition, that was a quiet but genuinely life-changing culture shock.

I made a longer video about this on YouTube this week. If you've ever traveled somewhere and felt a place slowly change you without asking permission, this one's for you.
