International Workers Day is dedicated to the class and labor struggles that take place all over the globe.

It is a day meant to both celebrate the power and contributions of the working class, and a reminder of the workers and union leaders who sacrificed their lives to improve working conditions for all and inspired countless others to do the same.

Technology is making it easier for both corporations and individuals to steal our personal data and identities. Tools like this app are one important part of fighting back and taking steps to make each of us harder to exploit.

More broadly, the surveillance state is becoming more decentralized, functioning through consumer electronics that feed our personal data to tech companies like Meta, which then sell it to the police and state agencies.

Deploy these tools when they’re useful - at protests, anti-fascist actions, and in other contexts where covert surveillance and doxing are a concern.

Cops will not protect us, we protect us.

Hateful threats and intimidation like this are becoming more common as white supremacist rhetoric becomes commonplace and individuals feel empowered to act on their bigotry, sometimes with violence, against marginalized communities.

The police are complicit. Harboring bullies in uniforms who hold many of the same toxic views as this unidentified suspect. They often engage in similar intimidation with the force of a badge and the state apparatus behind it.

None of this is surprising if you know Tallahassee’s Police Chief Lawrence Revell. In 2021, he took an all-expenses-paid retreat and paid speaking engagement at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He retaliated against and eventually pushed out a 20-year veteran of the department who filed credible discrimination claims. In 1996, he shot and killed an unarmed Black teen.

Since July 6, 2025, the federal government has unjustly detained beloved community member, artist, and green card holder Daniel “Des” Sanchez Estrada. He is in custody in North Texas on charges related to simply carrying zines the Trump administration disagrees with. This is a flagrant violation of his First Amendment rights. Additionally, ICE has placed a hold on Des and doxxed him. If the federal government is allowed to behave this way based on literature that it deems subversive, then all of our communities and movements are under threat.
We join Free Des (.des.revol on IG) alongside over 140 organizations and groups, to call on the federal government to drop all charges against Des and lift his hold. We also call on all organizations and groups wanting to defend a free society to join us in signing this solidarity statement. A threat to Des is a threat to us all.
