Imagine while in rush-hour traffic you’re able to avoid the stop-and-go crawl and fly above the cars. This made-for-movies scene will soon be a real-to-life encounter thanks to Alef Aeronautics. Newscasters announced on February 22, 2025 that Alef successfully conducted a city flight test of its flying car going from horizontal to vertical in California. The downside is the drive is limited to 25 hours an hour. The car priced at $300,000 has already secured 3,300 pre-orders.

Swim lessons can begin as early as age one, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. Classes attended by parents with their children aged 1 to 4 would include the introduction of water safety habits and swim readiness skills. By age 4, most children are ready for swimming lessons of floating, treading water, and getting to an exit point. However, keep in mind that children who swim are not drown-proof. Close supervision while they are around or in the water prevents accidents.

The steam packet-ship “John Rutledge,” in route from Liverpool, a borough in England, to New York, hit an iceberg and sank, losing 120 passengers and 19 crew. Thirteen people were on the last surviving lifeboat, the first mate’s wife, nine immigrants including one girl and two boys, and three crew members including a 22-year-old sailor from a prominent Massachusetts maritime family named Thomas W. Nye. Nye was the only one survivor when rescued.
