Although I’d love to run for office if I had the time, I won’t be running for anything in the upcoming Taunton municipal election. Being the best daddy and husband I can be is my priority. See you in 2027! 🏡🥰🍦🦄

I did not finish in the top three in yesterdays election. Thank you to each and every one of my 2,132 supporters. I’m not sure what the future holds for me, but I do know that I love public service. Onward!

I know, I know, another post about energy efficiency from Jon Gray. What else is new? But really, if you care about energy and the environment, you should care about heating and cooling buildings, which is a huge area the TMLP can grow its revenue over the coming years. Heating and cooling energy also represents about 55% of a home’s yearly energy use, the largest single source. I would tell you that I was the first to propose the TMLP’s new 0% interest loan program, but that’s probably not news to you. As your TMLP Commissioner, I would always look out for what tax and rebate incentives are available to make sure that our customers are well aware of, and get their fair share of federal and state incentive dollars. Sitting on our hands and not advocating for these programs and available funding opportunities is not going to do our customers any good. In 2021, only 10 of the TMLP’s 39,000 customers utilized their “House N’ Home” energy rebate program.

I’m proud to be endorsed by Lead Locally, a national advocacy group dedicated to supporting grassroots candidates who will support climate-positive policies locally. I am one of only four Massachusetts candidates at all levels to earn their endorsement for the fall election cycle. As I said in my 2021 campaign, we can keep electric rates affordable for TMLP ratepayers while also ensuring a clean energy future. We will do this by implementing smart policies that advance environmental and customer-centric benefits at the same time, like the zero percent interest energy efficiency loan program that I first proposed in 2021 and the TMLP adopted this year. I am the breath of fresh air that the TMLP Commission needs.

It may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about the TMLP, but utility pole locations are an important factor for ensuring our sidewalks can be easily traversed by wheelchair users, caregivers with strollers, or visually impaired individuals. One item I’d like to work on if elected is starting to catalogue utility poles in the territory that impede ADA accessibility. The TMLP has a role to play in making sure people of all ages and abilities can get around. Gathering this data will help to better inform future policy, and prioritize future investments.

While the worst of Hurricane Lee looks like it will be east of Taunton, we’re still expected to get winds of 25+ mph, so it’s always best to take down any political signs you may have in your yard prior to the storm hitting. Airborne signs or other unsecured yard items can be a safety risk to you and your neighbors, and can also get damaged by falling trees and other debris — similar to this photo from one of our supporters from October 2021. Wishing everyone, including the TMLP crews who will be out keeping the power on, a safe weekend.
