Saturday Night 89.1 FM WFDU HD 1

Saturday Night 89.1 FM WFDU HD 1 Shaun McGann hosts the Seven-to-Ten slot every Saturday Night on 89.1 FM WFDU- HD 1.

FRIDAY NITE is an Internet Radio show broadcast from WFDU in Teaneck New Jersey on the campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University. We play a wide variety of music. I guess everyone says they play a wide variety of music, we try to take that to the ridiculous level. Yes there's classic rock, singer/songwriter stuff, Motown, jazz- be-bop, hard bop, new stuff from new artists, new stuff from old artists that often gets overlooked. If you're a musical act, if you're a comedian, if you're a writer if you do something creative and want to talk about it on the air, if you want to send us something, audio files, etc email us at [email protected] and we'll take a listen or contact us here.

Lots of competition for your entertainment dollar and time this weekend; but, perhaps, you'd like to consider the latest fundraiser for WFDU presented by Signal to Noise NJ. This time around, Al's got Wharton Tiers Ensemble, Flower, and Bob Carol Ted at Union Hall.

The "Black Atlas Was Supposed to Call In But Didn't , Though Tom Stopped By" Show

No show new show this weekend - so while I'm uploading noir-ish shots of haunted bars to my instagram feed, should you need something you haven't heard before I'm posting some old shows. Here's one from the old HD2 show where yet another band was supposed to call in but didn't but that was offset by Tom stopping by.

Tom stops by the show and talks about being exposed to different music as he moved around the world and we play stuff from Local H, Nirvana, Screaming Females, Roger Harvey and more.

No new show this weekend- we're going to replay the show from a few week's ago with Listener Playlists. However if you n...

Here Comes the Night 10.11- Self Inflicted Smashing With A Boat Oar

No new show this weekend- we're going to replay the show from a few week's ago with Listener Playlists. However if you need something to hold you over I'm going to post a few old shows - This is from the old Sunday night show that no one listened to including me because I have no idea what happens on this one.

First hour - 1960's rock and pop. The rest of the show is pretty much all over the place. You know, because that's the kind of show it is.

03/23/2019

Tonight-
We start chilled out and descend into the murky depths of the mid-90s distortion boxes.
Vinny Appice calls in to talk about the NJ Horror Convention in Atlantic City.

Tonight- Fundraising.
So it'll be the usual show but we'll break in a little bit to tell you that we need your donations.
And we do.
If you want to do some kind of dedication to your squeeze we'll do that for a donation. (Marriage proposals and/or breakups are extra)
If you want to program 15 minutes of the show with your own setlist that's $100.
For $200 we'll let you come up and program an hour of the show and sit in as co-host.
If we get any other incentives- you'll be the first to know.
Otherwise we'll be playing music
7pm-10pm
Get there early for Evan Toth and the Sharp Notes at 6pm.

Tonight I was going to play something off the last Weezer album called Weezer (the White Album) but then they (Weezer) put out a surprise album this week called Weezer (the Teal Album) so I probably should play something off that Weezer (Teal) but I kinda like the song off Weezer (the White album) I was going to play and I figure that Weezer album (White) got less airplay than this Weezer album (Teal). Then again I may just play both tracks from both Weezer albums called Weezer (Teal & White) to avoid any confusion.

Echo and the Bunnymen

Back live this Saturday- in the meantime enjoy this little number from 1985 - the same year Marty McFly destroyed the Fotomat at the Lone Pine Mall with his friend's DeLorean.

🌕 From an Old Grey Whistle Test, to a new whole new re-working, "The Killing Moon" will be re-released this coming Wednesday as a Transformed edition for 'The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon' at https://Bunnymen.lnk.to/MoonFA

Tonight- bowing to the weather and playing a recorded show. This of course means that the snow will either not come or just be rain or taper off after 20 minutes. So essentially - You're Welcome.

01/12/2019

Tonight a barrage of music both old and new mostly from the rock genre and bv some of its sub-genres. This show will "warm you up" or help you "beat the cold" but it will probably be 56% less frustrating than watching football.

WFDU 89.1 FM Radio ~ Voice of FDU

I'm doing my radio show tonight. Every song is about New Years Eve or New Years Day. Three Hours. Of all songs about New Years. New Year's Day by U2? Yeah we'll play that like four or five times. Probably different versions. All New Year's stuff folks. That's a total lie. I can't think of any other songs about New Year's . Auld Lang Syne I guess but I don't think I have that. I'm not playing any New Year's music. Probably some fun stuff. Like if you heard any other shows that I've done this year then it would probably be like that. You wouldn't turn it on and go "what the hell is going on?" you'd be like "yeah this sounds like probably something that would be on that show". And if you haven't listened to it before then maybe tonight would be a good time to start. ALright. This is supposed to be a promotional thing and I'm getting a little wordy here. I'm starting at 7pm - Evan Toth is on at 6pm - and going to 10pm. so drop in should you feel the need to have someone entertain the stuffing out of you.

Tonight- I don't know. I was gonna do a request show- you know like for the holidays? But then I started putting something together that I liked but I could still take requests. Or maybe not. I might take no requests and just play Master of Puppets on a loop for 3 hours only interrupted by a Save the Manatees PSA and Have A Holly Jolly Christmas.
