Happy Fathers Day, Daddy

‘Hey my little girl.’
‘Hey daddy!’

Simple phrases that slipped from our lips for many years. They were always the introductions to our conversations. It didn’t matter if we only spoke for 5 minutes or stayed on the phone for hours, we always greeted each other the same way. Me as your little girl and you as my daddy.

From the moment you and mom taught me how to speak, the word Daddy was the first one that made you the proudest to hear. You wore the title of being a Father on your chest like a badge of honor…

As we said fair well to one year and began a new one Luna’s school gifted her this beautiful book that tells the story of a kind hearted hedgehog, Malina. 🦔
We found a fun way for Luna to read and partake in imaginative play with the story😊she had a blast (and even started acting like a little hedgehog around the house!)

I can’t believe we are already at this point… Potty Training!! My little girl is growing up and I must be honest, I feel at ease with the 3-in-1 Grow with Me Potty Seat. Why?

‘Jasmine, being a mean girl and aggressive towards Taylor won’t bring back your FATHER -

This is just one of the comments that have been written as an outward expression of peoples’ opinions to me. And as harsh and cruel these words are, it doesn’t stop there, there more that followed. The fact that someone could even THINK of comments like this shocks me but to know that our father passed away in April AND still publicly write this… is disturbing to me. The passing of my father is a wound that hasn’t even begun to heal. And anyone who has experienced loss should know how this feels. So when the comment was made during our live stream, it hurt deeply.

Now here are a few realities as to what has been going on…

1. My sister is on the reality TV show Big Brother Season 24. And during her time in the house some of her actions/conversations have been viewed as being negative and suppressive to other houseguest and viewers have been extremely opinionated about it.

2. I am not my sister and I am not the person playing the Big Brother game. My sister is her own independent individual. She knows how to take responsibility for her actions and I stand behind my sister 150% as her as a human begin. No one is perfect.

3. My mother who is mourning the loss of her husband and life partner of over 40 years of marriage is being verbally attacked just for being a mother. I am being attacked and my sister is also being verbally attacked for just being a sister.

I use to be that girl that thought I had to take the time to have a answer for every opinion that everyone had of everything I did and said. I use to worry and stress OUT about finding all of the ‘right’ words to explain myself, thoughts and actions to others. But going through life’s adversities, struggles and low points has taught me this very lesson.

It doesn’t matter because people will only hear what they want to hear.

Period.

So now I operate on another level.

Save my breath.
Save my time of replying, commenting or answering.
Save my energy because it’s not my job to change hearts, that’s God’s work.

I read a quote yesterday that gave my heart a moment of peace.

My cries are no longer cries, they are silent weeping sessions that end with my eyes swollen and face wearing a smile. Although my heart is heavy and I miss my daddy I’m thankful for so much…

The time.
The memories.
The lessons.
The moments.
The laughter.
The man that I know as my father.
