That’s how some claim to be government but are in fact criminals, committing crime, while putting others in jail for the same crimes they committed.
🏡 A QUESTION EVERY TEXAS PROPERTY OWNER SHOULD BE ASKING
What does it really mean to own something?
If you buy a vehicle and pay it off, it's yours.
If you buy equipment and pay it off, it's yours.
If you buy livestock and pay for it, it's yours.
But in Texas, if you buy a home or a piece of land and stop paying property taxes, the government can eventually take it from you.
So do we truly own our property, or are we renting it from the government forever?
This isn't a Republican issue. This isn't a Democrat issue. This isn't a rural issue or a city issue.
This is a Texas issue.
Every year, homeowners open appraisal notices and wonder how a house they haven't sold suddenly became worth thousands more on paper. Retirees living on fixed incomes watch tax bills climb. Farmers and ranchers face increasing costs. Young families struggle to afford their first home.
Meanwhile, local governments continue to ask for more revenue while many taxpayers are asking a simple question:
Where is the breaking point?
For decades, Texans have been told relief is coming. Yet many families continue paying more and more each year just to keep what they have already worked a lifetime to own.
The conversation should no longer be about temporary relief.
The conversation should be about long-term solutions.
The conversation should be about transparency.
The conversation should be about accountability.
And most importantly, the conversation should be about whether future generations of Texans will ever truly own their homes and land.
Texas was built by hardworking people who believed in independence, private property, and personal responsibility.
Maybe it's time we start asking whether our property tax system still reflects those values.
