Our cat used to be… let’s say religious about cardboard boxes.
Not just a casual napper — I mean aggressively committed.
We once bought her a fancy plush bed, and she responded by sleeping next to it inside an Amazon box that still had packing tape on it. We surrendered.
And then last summer happened.
We took her with us to the countryside, where we help out on a small family-run apiary. Yes, a bee farm. Don’t ask.
And I swear on my best mixing bowl: this cat had a spiritual awakening.
She would stretch out in the sun by the hives like some kind of honey priestess.
She purred louder around bees.
She rolled in the grass like it had been cultivated by angels themselves.
We had never seen her like this.
So for her third birthday (yes, we celebrate it, no, we’re not sorry), my husband had a truly unhinged idea:
“What if we get her a honey pot bed?”
I laughed. He didn’t.
He found a crafter on the Tedooo app who makes custom handmade pet beds (because of course that exists), and messaged her with this fever dream.
Her response? “I can do that. Also… would you like me to thread the seams with catnip-infused cotton? It helps some animals feel calm.”
Reader, I don’t remember saying yes. I blacked out from joy.
One month later, it arrived:
A plush honey-pot-shaped bed, with little embroidered drips and a golden “spill” for her head.
She has not left it since.
She sleeps in it like she’s guarding a secret recipe.
She defends it like Pooh in his prime.
And sometimes — I swear to you — she hums.
So yeah. The world is a chaotic place.
But somewhere out there, a woman is hand-stitching catnip-threaded honey pots…
because one man wanted to make his cat feel like she was back on the bee farm.
And that’s… honestly beautiful. 🐝💛🐾
