The Starlet Henhouse We have chickens that are beginning to lay, with more additions to come! 🙂

Just me and my husband, enjoying our slice of heaven with our 4 indoor cats and countless, outdoor cats, that were once abandoned, and are now our beloved pouch/yard kitties.

Can anyone guess what this old speaker was re-purpused for? 🤔😁

Nothing goes to waste here! My hubby was going to put this old speaker on the burn pile. I said hold it! That's going to be my nesting box! I removed the speakers, all the wires and have it set up high for them. They LOVE it! I'm still working on the esthetics of it and will follow up with pics soon. Does anyone else have fun things they've re-purpused?

I was experimenting with my camera yesterday and took these close ups of the two eggs we got yesterday. The brown one was laid by an ISA Brown hen and the blue is the first from our Americana/Easter egger.
Love the little specks on the brown egg. Her eggs are so bright and smooth now. The blue one, you can see the calcuim spots since she's a new layer. I thought they were cool pics 🤎🩵

We have a new layer on our roster today! This beautiful, blue egg came from Ms Bette Davis aka Bets. She is an Americana/Easter egger. They start out very skinny or misshapen until hens systems get up to speed. I was so excited to see that blue egg 💙

Did a big cleaning this evening. All waterers and the chicken pool. We're expecting a "heat dome" down here on the Gulf coast of Texas starting Sunday so wanted everything clean so I don't melt in the heat index of 110 degrees next week 🫠 I might be adding ice in the pool for them!
