Manhattan University’s (MU) Mini Baja team will take part in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) intercollegiate Baja competition in Rochester, N.Y., this June.
During the four day competition, students compete in a series of static and dynamic events that test the vehicle as well as the marketing behind it. The team consists of 12 students who handle the vehicle’s design, analysis and manufacturing.
At MU, this competition serves as a senior capstone project for mechanical engineering students who choose to take part. The competition gives students real world experience, and the opportunity to apply the skills they learned in the classroom in a hands-on setting.

The Manhattan University (MU) campus has been adjusting to the usage of artificial intelligence, integrating it into curriculum and welcoming in new ways for students to work with emerging technologies with the help of the ARCH program.
Ashlee Okunonke, a senior computer science major, spoke to The Quadrangle about her experience using AI in the classroom.
“It’s been a positive experience for me, because I feel like I use AI in a positive way,” Okunonke said. “So I will ask Chat GBT or ask Claude to help me through my teacher’s PowerPoints which they reiterate back to me and act as a professor itself.”

Since its emergence in 1924, The Quadrangle student newspaper has been central to the legacy of Manhattan University (MU), with generations of editors-in-chief being a part of the publication’s evolution across multiple decades.

For over 102 years, The Quadrangle has evolved in many ways — from news coverage to its layout, as well as in its trust and impact on the community. While there have been quite a few prominent changes, a lot has also remained constant.

Three Quad alumni, all who served as the editors-in-chief of their time, reflected back on their experiences once working as student journalists.

Jadakiss Takes the Stage as MU’s 2026 Springfest Artist.

This past Saturday April 18, Manhattan University (MU) welcomed rapper Jadakiss to campus as this year’s Springfest performer.

Jadakiss, or Jason Terrance Phillips, is a Yonkers-native rapper most known for his work from the 1990s and 2000s.When Phillips took to stage in Draddy Gymnasium, he performed these classic songs such as “By Your Side”, “U Make Me Wanna”, “New York” and “Put Your Hands Up.” Attendees of the concert sang along, with strobe lights, sparklers and smoke machines creating a true concert-like atmosphere, all at MU.

The Quadrangle spoke to Phillips after his performance, and asked him about what it was like to come to a college campus, such as MU, and perform for a student crowd.
Actually, a college crowd is one of the best crowds to see if you’re still lit,” Phillips said. “If you could rock a college crowd, then you know your career has legs, because those are the most vibrant people in the world. They’re going through exams, they’re dealing with all of this stuff, and then if they [colleges] book you, and the college kids come out and rock with you, then you know you’re in a good space.”

On March 25, the O’Malley School of Business (OMSB) at Manhattan University (MU) hosted the 13th annual Innovation Challenge, an event where various student entrepreneurs develop a well-generated product or service, which is then pitched in front of a panel of judges. This year, a total of five different teams went head-to-head, with the top three winners receiving cash prizes.
All students from various academic disciplines were encouraged to participate. Hany Guirguis, Ph.D, the dean of the OMSB, expanded on this and shared his insight on why he thinks  the Innovation Challenge leaves an impact on the campus community.

“The Innovation Challenge highlights the power of collaboration by bringing together students from Engineering, the Kakos School of Arts and Sciences and the O’Malley School of Business to work on shared, real-world problems,” Guirguis wrote in an email to The Quadrangle. “By combining technical expertise, analytical thinking and business strategy, the competition reinforces that strong ideas are best developed through interdisciplinary teamwork.”

Actor, director and travel writer Andrew McCarthy visited Manhattan University (MU) to discuss his new book, “Who Needs Friends: An Unscientific Examination of Male Friendship Across America,” offering students a candid look at male intimacy, loneliness and the power of simply showing up for one another.

Kelly Marin, Ph.D., chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department and the moderator for the event, introduced McCarthy as a multi-hyphenate artist – known for cult-classic films like “Pretty in Pink,” “St. Elmo’s Fire,” “Mannequin” and “Weekend at Bernie’s,” as well as for his award-winning travel writing and multiple New York Times bestsellers. McCarthy visited MU on the official publication day of his new book that reflects on a cross-country trip.

On March 9, Manhattan University (MU) announced its inaugural class of faculty fellows for the ARCH Innovation Exchange.

This campus-wide initiative aims to advance access to learning by promoting these values, as fellows build on a range of projects that combine the foundations from MU’s three schools: the Kakos School of Arts and Sciences, O’Malley School of Business and the School of Engineering.

The faculty fellows will be facilitated by Lawrence Udeigwe, Ph.D, a professor of mathematics. According to manhattan.edu (https://manhattan.edu/news/archive/2026/03/inaugural-arch-innovation-exchange-faculty-fellows.php), “Udeigwe’s expertise spans applied mathematics, machine learning, computational neuroscience and music, and he has led innovative curriculum development and externally funded research initiatives.”
