Civilian Rescues Boy from Monorail Track at Hersheypark

A heart-stopping scene unfolded at Hersheypark on Saturday when a young boy, reported missing after becoming separated from his parents, was rescued while walking alone on the elevated track of the Capital BlueCross Monorail.

The boy, spotted around 5 p.m., was standing more than 20 feet above ground on the monorail track, which was not in operation at the time. Onlookers described the moment as frightening, with video footage quickly circulating on social media and sparking widespread concern.

In a dramatic turn, a civilian man identified as John Samson rushed to the boy’s aid, pulling him to safety before park security intervened. Witnesses credited Samson’s quick action with preventing what could have been a tragedy.

“People were gasping and pointing, and then this man just acted without hesitation,” one visitor said. “He absolutely saved that boy’s life.”

Hersheypark officials confirmed the incident and said the child was unharmed before being reunited with his parents. No injuries were reported.

The Capital BlueCross Monorail, which offers guests an audio tour of the park, has tracks that sit no less than 20 feet off the ground. Officials noted that the ride was not running at the time of the incident.
Samson’s intervention has been hailed on social media, with many praising his bravery and quick response.
