A handful of smaller repairs completed between 2 deep cleans, before and afters of those saddles getting posted later this week!
- a pair of tall boots received a deep clean, a new snap, and a small stitch repair
- an absolutely gorgeous dressage saddle got a stitch repair and panel relace
- the tiniest, cutest, saddle I’ve ever seen also received a panel relace

Some exciting big projects coming soon, so keep an eye on the page! As always, my inbox is open for any questions or scheduling.

✨ Books are officially open again ✨

I’ve already picked up a couple of saddles along with a pair of tall boots for a clean and repair, and have started booking for August. Texas summer is 🔥HOT🔥 so if you’re taking a break at all during this heatwave, schedule today to get your tack cleaned and repaired before the cooler weather finally returns and you’re back to riding!

Stay cool out there, yall!

Tiny bit of news - I’ve changed the business page name from AEH Tack Cleaning to AEH Tack Services. No major changes to the business as a whole for now, just getting ready for possible future adventures. Facebook may take a few days to swap over on posts and in Messenger, so be prepared!

✨ Tuesday two-for-one post ✨

One saddle from before the wedding, one saddle from after. The same love and attention provided to both, no matter the time.

The Devoucoux has seen the backs of many horses, carried its rider through college and life, and when she was quoted $3k minimum for a block repair…it was time to shop around for some more quotes. Fortunately, I was all game to try out my skills (and not for $3k!). I wet molded the new leather before replacing and shaping the missing foam, followed by gluing and hand stitching everything back together using color matched thread to the original. The result is a two tone vibe to tie in closer to the panel color, a new supportive block, and a deep clean to be ready to tackle the summer and beyond!

The Pessoa, on the flip side, has a different story. While its owner did all the adult life things, riding had to take a back seat for a brief moment. Now, she’s ready to be back in the saddle and needed her saddle restored after a couple of years of storage. I started with a double soap to remove any built up dirt and dust, before careful application of a little bit of oil and lots of conditioner. In return, the leather refreshed and literally blossomed back to life. A full health check revealed absolutely nothing wrong, and this saddle was returned after installing the new stirrup leathers and pads (provided by the client). Ready to begin again and carry the rider wherever she desires!

Working on the restoration that was dropped off before the wedding, unfortunately my assistant is sleeping on the job and the heat has caused him to melt a little so I’m on my own this evening. 🐕

Looking forward to getting back to all the jobs soon! Keep an eye on the page for more news if you’re interested in a repair, clean, or restoration next month 🧼🪡

Hello, everyone! With a restoration saddle drop off earlier this week, my books are officially ✨closed✨ until after the wedding. I will respond to messages (when able), however please expect some delays as we wrap up wedding planning and our wedding party party weekend 🥳

My Austin post got stuck in drafts so that will be out next week once we’re back home from Galveston and I can figure out why it didn’t post successfully 🏖️ have a great weekend, friends!

Had to call the fiancé and ask how many saddles were “okay” to be in the house at once, one month before our wedding 🫣 he said we had room for one more, so of course I brought home two! On top of a drop off today, bringing us to a grand total of ✨6 saddles✨ in our apartment 😅

Not pictured: my personal Western, my personal Stübben, and the Antares headed to consignment. I’ll organize more tomorrow, but for now these saddles (and myself) are headed to bed after a busy busy weekend.

Full Austin trip recap post tomorrow! Keep a lookout 👀

Stopped by Laura's Saddlery today in Tomball, just to leave my information if anyone calls them for recommendations for repairs or cleaning…and may have found a project saddle for myself, oops 😅

5 🌟 service at Laura’s, super helpful with my questions before I decided to buy this Antarès, and a GREAT selection of new tack and supplies as well as used saddles!

Yall keep an eye out for this one! It will be ✨FOR SALE✨ after a deep clean, deep condition, and inspection!!

✨ Antique Mandolin Case ✨

This gorgeous mandolin case had me researching rivet techniques and thread types from the late 1800s and early 1900s, because it may be THAT old. The tooling is gorgeous, and while the leather for the most part was pretty solid, the straps had dry rotted over time.

I removed the back half dome, removed the old rivets, hand cut new straps, installed the new straps with brand new rivets, hand sewed the back piece back on, and did a multi-step deep clean to remove all the dirt and attempted to remove some of the paint and stains. Multiple layers of my favorite leather conditioner was applied by brush, hand, and normal soft sponge to gently rehydrate the leather over the course of 2-3 weeks as there was some surface cracking I didn’t want to stress.

While not a piece of tack and outside of my “normal”, I am honored I was chosen to work on and repair this beauty!! Scroll through the photos to see the before and after, and comment your thoughts or questions below ⬇️

Shout out to my LUCKY client who found this saddle at a Goodwill. I never find literal diamonds like this and 100% would have taken it for myself 😅 If you know Black Country saddles, you know how nice these things are. Unfortunately, it did have the tiniest bit of loose stitching and just needed a structural health check before use.

Repaired little spot of stitching on the flap detail ✔️
Replaced the lacing in the front with fresh thread and pulled tight again ✔️
Full structural and overall stitch check, passed with flying colors ✔️

And it’s ready to ride again 🐎

Pick up Saturday, drop off Monday. How about that for a turn-around time? Possibly faster than the OTTB this saddle is for, although I’d definitely lose in a foot race 🐎

Hand-stitched back together with a color matched thread after the original stitches wore out and fell apart. The block just needed re-threaded and pulled snug, and I totally forgot to take the after picture so maybe use your imagination 😅

To top it off, this saddle got a Show clean and condition with a full report on the rest of the saddle health - passed with flying colors!

As a reminder, my books are now ✨ OPEN ✨ for repairs. Send the page a message for quotes and information!
