I have been testing something that seems small, but it works. I use a thumbnail as the first image in an Instagram carousel, and the full video sits on the next slide.

It sounds simple, but here is why it helps. When someone swipes to see the video, they are interacting with the post. That swipe counts as engagement, and engagement tells the algorithm your content is worth showing to more people.

A few things make the thumbnail work better:
• Strong facial expression
• Clear focal point
• Curiosity or tension
• Simple design

You can create great content, but if the first frame does not stop the scroll, the video never gets its chance. The swipe gives it that chance.

Try it on your next post. One small adjustment can lead to a lot more views.

You don’t need more applications. You need more conversations.

Look on LinkedIn for someone who works at the place you’re hoping to be.

Send a short message. Ask a question. Show interest in the work they do.

Real opportunities come from real conversations.
Keep it simple and genuine. That’s what people respond to.

Do not be afraid to give your knowledge away.

The more you share, the more you attract.

Most of my clients reach out after watching my videos. They see how much I give away for free and start thinking, if this is what he shares publicly, I wonder what it is like to actually work with him.

That curiosity is what builds trust.

Generosity is not bad for business. It is the best marketing there is.

Did you know Make Waves Marketing ranks within the top 200 in the U.S. within the Wix Studio ecosystem?

When I started building websites, I had no clue what I was doing.

I was just trying to figure things out. How to make a page load. How to link a button. How to make a site look like something real. I never imagined it would turn into a career or lead to recognition on a global level.

I recently found out that Wix hand-selected me as one of only 200 web designers in the United States for the Wix Studio League. And it isn’t just a national honor. Globally, I am among the top 700 designers out of more than 272 million users on the platform. And if your into percentages, I’m in the top 0.00007% within the Wix Studio ecosystem.

It feels good to look back and see how far things have come, from signing my first web design client at $500 to now leading an agency that builds websites for medium to large businesses locally, statewide, and across the nation.

I am thankful for everyone who trusted me, offered feedback, or simply asked, “Can you build this?” Those moments shaped Make Waves Marketing, and what it has become today.

Here is to the next chapter, more learning, better design, and websites that help businesses within our community grow.
