They did it! 10 years after the now legendary Kilt V1 was raucously unleashed into the world, the Kilt X has arrived for a special limited run.
The Kilt X isn’t just a rehoused V2 with a new graphic, it gives us a familiar yet slightly tweaked voice with a different clipping section that yields more dynamic range (better low gain tones), a re-voiced EQ which excels in clarity, and much more volume on tap to hit your edge-or-breakup amps harder.
I’ll just say, compared to my V1 and V2, it does have a unique thing going on. I find the tone k**b is more useful and can get much brighter than my V2. The V2 overall feels smoother and warmer. The V3 feels more aggressive but without harshness.
You still get the 4 modes of drive we know and love from the V2 as well as the red remote. There is no boost in the V3 but, to be fair, I use my external boost the majority of the time anyway.
JHS was kind enough to send me one to test before release but I did’t have time to put together a full video….YET. Check my YouTube for a follow up soon. I’ll be comparing the V1, V2 and the Aspen to the V3!
