The contemporary format features winning artists like CeCe Winans, Smokie Norful, Mary Mary, Shirley Caesar, John P. Kee, The Georgia Mass Choir, and Kirk Franklin. We treat our listeners to a rich blend of contemporary gospel hits of today, as well as a touch of the classics. Each spring, WPDT presents an annual Choir Concert Series - a four week celebration featuring over 40 Midlands church and community choirs. Over 8,000 listeners regularly attend this four-week series. The Concert Series culminates with FAMILYFEST-- our annual family and fun day in Columbia's Finlay Park. Over 100,000 gospel music fans have attended this celebration of music and education since 2005 alone. WPDT also finds meaningful ways to give back to the community! One of our most successful projects has been the establishment of The Future Leader Scholarship Campaign. Scholarship awards are slated for students who are strong academically, but lack the financial resources needed to attend college. We coordinate the partnership of high school guidance counselors, corporate sponsors, advertising supporters and individual donors.
