Plot Summary:
In Mad Max 2: Fury Road (2026), the dystopian world of Mad Max returns in a blaze of glory, picking up after the events of Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) is still haunted by his past, wandering the desolate wasteland of a post-apocalyptic world. Having survived countless battles, he’s learned that survival is a fragile thing, especially in a world where power-hungry warlords and brutal raiders reign supreme.

This time, Max finds himself drawn into a new conflict when he crosses paths with a fierce group of rebels led by Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron), who has survived the horrors of Immortan Joe's rule. Furiosa, now more determined than ever to end the reign of terror in the wasteland, has discovered a way to bring down the oppressive warlords once and for all. However, a ruthless new antagonist, The Warlord (played by a yet-to-be-revealed actor), is preparing to seize control of the remaining resources and eliminate anyone who stands in his way.

To make matters worse, the wasteland is experiencing an unpredictable environmental collapse, with storms becoming more violent, resources more scarce, and factions fighting for their lives. The threat of a new deadly energy force—the Burning Sky—is rising, a catastrophic event that could destroy what little is left of civilization.

With new allies, including an enigmatic fighter (Anya Taylor-Joy) and the ruthless Nux (Nicholas Hoult), Max and Furiosa must take on the Warlord’s army and race against time to unlock the secret that could stop The Burning Sky and bring a semblance of order back to the world. Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 is coming April 2026 🍿🍄
The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a massive hit last year, which helped an all-around great year in animation across the board. The movie wasn't exactly an awards contender, but it showed up and did what it wanted to do and did it well enough that the fans were extremely happy. The people at Nintendo and Universal were happy, too, as they watched those box office numbers continue to climb, and Peaches went viral in ways that other studios dreamed of. So it isn't surprising that we're getting another movie, which was officially announced by Shigeru Miyamoto on the official Nintendo Twitter account today. Not only is The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 officially a go, but we even have a release date of April 3, 2026, because early April worked exceptionally well last time, and why fix what isn't broken?
This is Miyamoto. We are now creating a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. This film is planned for release in theaters on April 3rd, 2026, in the US and many other markets and throughout the month of April in other territories.
