Tonight's Severe Weather Update❗

The Storm Prediction Center added counties mainly along and west of I75 in an enhanced risk for severe storms (level 3 out of 5).

The newest data perhaps reveals a southward shift in the worst of the conditions, but the issue is the amount of wind shear that we have in out atmosphere this evening. That brings a higher than normal tornado threat.

Note: Wind shear is the change of speed and/or direction with height in the atmosphere.💨

This is a needed ingredient for rotating thunderstorms.⛈️🔁 We have lower instability today, but any little instability that does develop would be concerning because of the amount of wind shear that is present.
