Good Monday Morning Everyone. As you know, we recently suffered a huge loss at 'The JT Show Podcast'. While there is no way to replace such a huge presence and influence like Jim Edwards, when it was all said and done he would've been the first to say, "The Show Must Go On". That said, I am taking some much needed time off to refocus and reset. There is no timetable for the return, but if I were a betting man, I would put my money on sooner rather than later. Believe me when I say though, you won't know until it happens!

I look forward to the future and what all it may hold. See you all then 😇😇😇 - DR. JAY THOMAS [Monday, April 27th 2026]

I want to send a special "THANK YOU" out to Beer Barrel Pizza & Grill for the great meal during my family's visit to Lima for my father's 'Celebration of Life'. The food and service was off-the-chart, but 'this' took the cake. When the S'mores dessert was brought out, the look was 'priceless'! 😂😂

THANK YOU EVERYONE AT BEER BARREL for making our time in Lima a little better for everyone involved. We will absolutely, 100% be back ❤️❤️❤️

Tomorrow (Saturday, April 18th 2026) is RECORD STORE DAY. Speaking of 'Record Store Day', not only is Groamy's Cd's and Tapes in Lima (at 219 S. Central Ave.) participating and having awesome specials happening (which you should go check out), as a way to get ourselves at THE JT SHOW ready, we're going to hop in our 'way back machine' and take you back just a tick shy of 20 years, 'FOR THE RECORD'!

Beginning the last week of May 2007, through the first week of September of 2007 (yes, the entire summer), Groamy was featured every Friday morning on First Edition on WLIO-NBC Lima, profiling the week's releases in CD's, DVD's, and more. It became a cult hit locally and people looked forward to Friday mornings and what would be discussed and featured. He became such a huge part of the Friday program that when he was no longer on, people called the front desk at the TV station to the point it busied the lines. Regardless, when the feature ended, people wanted MORE of their 'Groamy'. It became the stuff of legend.

Let's throw it back now with a segment that aired during the month of August 2007. Here's GROAMY... 'FOR THE RECORD'! 😎😎😎

There's a wild rumor flying around that John Popper from Blues Traveler stopped by the Jim Edwards 'Celebration of Life' at the Sugar Street Bar & Grill in Lima yesterday. I'm here to tell you, it's not a rumor. It's a FACT!
In the middle of the triumphant reunion of the original lineup of 'Candi's Dirty Secret', Mr. Popper 'popped in' and joined the band for a song. That said, it is with great pleasure we present to you, 'Candi's Dirty Secret w-John Popper'. It's all about those "Roadhouse Blues". TURN IT UP!!! 😎😎😎

Here's a pretty cool throwback VHS clip from the personal library of BIG JIM EDWARDS.

In the heyday of 80's hair bands and MTV Top-40 Rock and Roll, four guys by the name of Rick Eddy, Mark Spencer, Kevin Maiberger, and Jim Linenkugel, had a band that everyone planned their weekend around to go see in the Lima area. Maybe you saw them in the Port Clinton area (as shown in the video). Maybe you saw them in and around Allen and Auglaize County. Regardless of where you were and what you were doing, you knew when they showed up, the night just got a little 'hotter'. Why? Because they were, 'The Connection'!

Courtesy of the straight-ahead interviewing by Kathleen Phipps, the 'brought to you by' assistance of places like Hart Audio, Mind Dust Music, The Entertainer, and the eye-popping live-music production included from Metro Video, the program 'THE BEAT' helped put Lima on the map as a destination for live music and entertainment you wouldn't find anywhere else.

So, TURN IT UP. It's 'The Connection', from the personal library of BIG JIM EDWARDS/Diesel!

Another gem of 93X Homegrown Lima rock-n-roll has been uncovered from the personal library of BIG JIM EDWARDS. If you remember this group of guys, then you know. But, if you weren't there, here's the story.

'Nemesis' was very different and unique to the Lima music landscape in their day. Unlike a number of other bands who played the bars and 18/21+ establishments, the boys from 'Nemesis' weren't able to be heard in those places when they first started. Why? Because they were all still in high school. That's right, it was a group of young people who weren't even old enough to vote!

'Nemesis' would eventually play in those establishments when the time would come, and in turn they built a following with an audience that, prior to the band's arrival, had been incredibly under-served. While it was the Kosher thing for some bands to cover songs by the Top-40 MTV bands of the day, 'Nemesis' walked into a 'Battle of the Bands' at the Square Fair one year and did a cover of "Coma White", originally performed by Marilyn Manson. They completely blew everyone away, winning the competition and being crowned the winners for that year.

During the time 'Nemesis' was starting and looking to get booked, 93X was seeking out all forms of local music for a program started in 1997 called, 'The 93X Local Rock Block'. One day in the latter part of 1997/early part of 1998, Zack Ryan, one of the band members, struck up a conversation with a kid he had never met before in the hallway of where he went to high school. It was a conversation where they discussed their love for different styles and genres of music. The kid Zack had never met before talked about how he was looking forward to watching the band play at the upcoming talent show. Zack thanked him for his support. Then, as a way to say "Thank You", Zack passed a three-song demo tape to the kid in the doorway to the men's room just outside of the 'old gym'. That night the kid took the tape home and played it with the volume turned up. The kid's dad asked, "who is that?". The kid explained it was a band at his high school, and the dad asked to borrow the tape and bring it back the next day. That 'kid' was the son of BIG JIM EDWARDS, program director of 93X (yes, I was that 'kid' if you haven't figured it out already 🤣🤣🤣). Jim took the tape and pulled the song, "The Seventh Sign", and the next week it was on the air. The song you hear in the video attached was the version that came directly from the tape that Zack handed off that day.

PLEASE NOTE: The year is listed as 1997 on the video attached, but that was the year the local music program was started, NOT necessarily the year the song was released!

93X was a game-changer for the local music scene, but that game-changing force had a bigger backing than what anyone knew. That 'backing' was BIG JIM EDWARDS. He led the charge for local music on the radio in Lima and the surrounding areas. This Saturday at the Sugar Street Bar and Grill, we celebrate the life, the legacy, and 'the man' himself.

04/06/2026

THIS SATURDAY, April 11th 2026... it's the 'Celebration of Life' for BIG JIM EDWARDS at the Sugar Street Bar & Grill. His 'church' was the stage, and that is how he will be honored, by those who loved and cared about him the most. It's not just memories, it's not just music, it's an event to remember a Man unlike any other. Featuring the music of Will Freed and Brian Archer, words from Mackenzie Merlot from 104.9 The Eagle and Michael Ayers, along with a 'Eulogy To Remember' from the son that followed him into the business of broadcasting and entertainment (some of you know him as Jay Thomas).
Then, it's the second half. The volume gets turned up to 11 with the solo debut of 'SHAE'. Then, the long-awaited return of all four original members of Lima's last great party band, CANDI'S DIRTY SECRET. Then to close out our evening will be the bluesy sounds of a band Jim loved, and you will also, the one and only, 'Black Cat Five''.

This will truly be a unique, one-of-a-kind CELEBRATION OF LIFE that you will NOT soon forget!
