There is a distinct kind of freedom that washes over me whenever I set up my easel at Pawley's Island to capture the sailboats drifting along the horizon. As I work the oil paints across the canvas, blending the coastal blues and crisp whites, the rhythmic motion of the water and the wind-caught sails seem to guide every brushstroke. In those quiet hours breathing in the salt air, the weight of the world completely lifts; it is just me, the sweeping colors of the tide, and a profound, untethered sense of liberation.
