Keep studying. You can cry after you get the degree.

But please… learn a side skill too before the tears become premium tears later.

Because sometimes life will ask you questions like:
ā€œOkay you have a degree… but what else can you do?ā€

That’s when some people start blinking like laptop cursor.
Don’t let that be you.

While you’re in school or building your career, try to learn at least one practical skill that can make money for you.

Things like:

• Professional Writing
• Web Development
• Copywriting
• Digital Marketing
• Professional Photography
• Video Editing
• Data Analysis
• Virtual Assistance
• Project Management

These are skills you can use to work remotely, freelance, or even build your own business.

Because in this economy, having Plan A, Plan B, and small Plan C is not being dramatic…

It’s being wise.

Study hard.

Get the degree.

But also learn something that can pay your bills while your degree is resting.

10 Simple Things That Make a Good CV
(Especially if you're trying to get remote or online jobs)

Many people apply for jobs every day but don’t get interview calls.
Sometimes, the problem isn’t your skills, it’s how your CV is written.

Here are 10 simple things that can make your CV stand out:

1. Keep it clean and easy to read
Use clear headings and simple spacing. Recruiters should understand your CV in seconds.

2. Adjust your CV for each job
Don’t send the same CV everywhere. Edit it to match the job you’re applying for.

3. Write a short summary about yourself
In a few lines, explain who you are, what you do, and what value you can bring.

4. Focus on results, not just duties
Instead of listing tasks, show what you achieved or improved.

5. Use important keywords
Many companies use software to scan CVs. Use words from the job description.

6. Add correct contact details
Your phone number, email, and LinkedIn should be easy to find.

7. Highlight your skills
Add both digital skills and soft skills that relate to the job.

8. Organise your work experience clearly
Start with your most recent job and go backwards.

9. Add your education and certifications
Courses, training, and online certificates can strengthen your CV.

10. Check for spelling mistakes
Always proofread your CV before sending it.

Remember, your CV is often the first impression employers see.

Whether you’re a returning to work, switching to remote jobs, or starting freelancing.. a good CV can open many doors.

Somewhere along the way, many of us believed that choosing motherhood meant choosing the background.

That staying home meant shrinking.
That putting our children first meant putting ourselves last.

And slowly… we stopped dreaming out loud.
But what if this season isn’t you falling behind?
What if it’s you being rebuilt?

Motherhood has trained you in ways no office ever could.

You manage time like a pro.
You solve problems under pressure.
You function on little sleep and still show up.
You love deeply and lead quietly.
Those are not small skills.
Those are powerful skills.

If you’re a stay-at-home mom secretly learning tech during nap time…
If you’re watching tutorials after everyone sleeps…
If you’re saving money for a course but doubting yourself…

I see you.

You are not late.
You are not starting from zero.
You are not ā€œjustā€ anything.

You are becoming.

And there is space for you in tech.
There is space for you in freelancing.
There is space for you to earn without abandoning your children.

You don’t have to choose between being present and being powerful.

You can be both.

Welcome to the Hive. šŸ
We grow here.

First-Time Mom Going for an Event? Please Read This Before You Wear That White Dress

Let me talk to my fellow first-time moms.

If you think you will just bathe, dress up and step out like before…
God bless your innocence .
You are now travelling with a tiny human who can vomit on vibes without notice.©Mom TechHive

Let me save you stress.

šŸ“Œ First of all
PACK. THE. NIGHT. BEFORE.
Not 20 minutes before leaving.
Not when you’re already wearing one shoe.
Not when Uber is outside calling you.

Because that is when:
The wipes will disappear.
The extra diaper will suddenly finish.
And baby will look at you and do that suspicious quiet face.
You know the one.

šŸ“Œ Secondly
Feed and change baby BEFORE you wear your outfit.
Please.

I once wore my dress first, then carried baby.
Let’s just say… I changed twice.
If you like wear white.
If you like say ā€œit won’t happen.ā€
It will happen ©Mom TechHive

šŸ“Œ Third
Choose clothes based on reality, not Instagram vibes.

Ask yourself:
Can I bend without exposing my ancestors?
Can I breastfeed without turning the event into a documentary?
If baby stains this, will I cry?
If the answer is yes to crying, change it.
Comfort is luxury now.

šŸ“Œ Fourth — makeup should be simple.
Brows. Mascara. Lip gloss. Done.
You are not going for AMVCA.
You are going as somebody’s mother. And you know kissing your baby every two seconds is a must, so keep the makeup simple. Tankiu

šŸ“Œ Fifth --Start getting ready one hour earlier than you think. (This one and point 1 are twins)

If event is 3pm, start 1pm.
Will you still somehow arrive at the event 4:15? Yes.
Motherhood time is spiritual. ©Mom TechHive

šŸ“Œ Sixth — have an exit plan.
If baby starts crying like they pay rent there…
We are leaving o. Church haff closed! School dismissed!
Just be going to your house
I don’t care if jollof rice just arrived.
Peace of mind is greater than small chops.

And let me tell you something sweet
Even if:
You carry 3 bags
Your baby cries once
You look slightly tired
You are still that girl.
You didn’t lose yourself.
You just upgraded your title.
Motherhood didn’t reduce you.
It expanded you.
And you’re doing amazing. High five!! Ā©Mom TechHive

Signed,
A mom who has changed outfits twice before leaving the house šŸ˜‚

Pregnant • Working • Thriving

Story time, moms! šŸ

So picture this: I’m pregnant, almost ready to pop, and I’m on maternity leave… or so I thought.

Back in the office, I was my boss’s right-hand woman ...managing emails, letters, data, everything.

Basically, if it needed doing, it went through me. And trust me, when I’m gone? Chaos. Like total chaos.

But here’s the twist: instead of me stressing about being away, I decided to try working from home. ( Hmm! How I managed to convince my boss is a story for another day)

My boss would send me screenshots of documents, letters to write, and Excel sheets… and I just handled it all from the comfort of my home.

Laptop on lap, feet kicked up, my little one moving in my tummy... it was a vibe.

And you know what? I worked better from home than in the office. Less stress, no commuting, no constant interruptions.

I got creative, upskilled myself, and slowly realized: this is my superpower.

Fast forward a few months:
• I’m doing the work of two people
• My boss notices the difference
• My value skyrockets
• My salary increases
• And I’m officially on the path to becoming a Virtual Assistant
All while being a first-time, expecting mom.

The takeaway, mamas?
We have the power to create our own opportunities, even in motherhood chaos. With focus, dedication, and a little bit of hustle, we can turn our homes into offices, our skills into income, and our passion into freedom.

So if you’ve ever wondered: ā€œCan I really work AND be a mom?ā€
The answer is: YES. You can. And you can thrive.

āœ“Moms, comment below : What’s one skill you’d love to monetize from home?
āœ“Save this post for motivation on tough days!
