Balancing Work and Caregiving

Trying to be a reliable employee and a full-time caregiver? It’s a tough juggling act. We see the toll it takes—and we admire your strength.

💬 You’re not failing. You’re carrying a lot.

Consider this step:
Talk with your HR department or supervisor about flexibility. Many workplaces offer support once they know what you’re facing. Also, reach out to local respite care services—even a short break can renew your energy.

⏳ Balance doesn’t mean doing it all. It means making it work without breaking yourself in the process.

If this resonates with your experience, please share a comment or pass it along to a fellow caregiver who might find it helpful today.

The Weight of Worry

If you’ve ever lain awake wondering if you’ve done enough, you’re not alone.

Try this gentle step:
Keep a small notepad by your bed. Offloading your thoughts can bring a sense of calm. Pair it with a few deep breaths—slow in… slow out. Just five can help settle your body and mind.

💡 Caregivers need rest, too. You matter.

If this speaks to your experience, please share a comment or send this to a fellow caregiver who might need it today.

🌻 For the Heart of a Dementia Caregiver 🌻

On this Sunday, to every caregiver navigating the world of dementia with love, patience, and strength—you’re not alone. ❤️ There are days when you feel strong, and others when you may feel the weight of it all. The mix of emotions, the endless to-dos, the memories that sometimes fade... these are challenges that only those in your shoes can truly understand.

But in each moment of frustration or exhaustion, remember the impact you’re making. You’re bringing comfort, familiarity, and love to someone who may feel lost. That’s something beautiful, something powerful. 🌟

While you’re caring for others, remember to care for yourself, too. Taking even a few minutes to recharge isn’t selfish—it’s essential. Whether it’s a short walk, a quiet cup of tea, or simply a few deep breaths, these small acts keep your heart strong and your spirit renewed. 💖

Take a breath when you need it. You are making a difference in ways others may never see, and that resilience is inspiring.

Please know this: your support, your presence, your very heart matters so much.💙 Let’s lean on each other, share our experiences, and celebrate the small victories along the way. Remember, we’re in this together, lifting each other up with every step.

With love and encouragement to each of you. ✨

The Guilt of Self-Care
Do you feel guilty when you take time for yourself? You're not alone—and you're not wrong for needing a break.

💬 We say it often, and we’ll keep saying it: Self-care is not selfish.

Here’s a starting point:
Block off one hour this week—just for you. Read. Walk. Sit in silence. Talk to a friend. Reclaim one piece of your day, and make it yours.

☀️ You can’t give your best to others if you’re running on empty. Refill. Recharge. Repeat.

Let us know if one of these speaks to your experience. You’re doing the hard, heart work—and we’re here to walk beside you.

Caring for someone with dementia or declining health often means grieving “little losses” every day. You’re mourning who they were—while still showing up with love and care.

💬 It’s okay to feel the ache of what’s changed.
You're still doing something beautiful: showing up through love.

👉 Try this:
Write a memory down each week—something funny, sweet, or meaningful about your loved one. Reconnecting with their “whole story” brings light to the present moment.

🌟 Honor the past while embracing the now.

It is estimated that up to 7.2 million Americans ages 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s disease. In recent weeks, key research studies have been halted or interrupted due to federal government funding cuts.

🧠 A Pause That Hurts Us All

The freeze in funding for Alzheimer’s research is more than a budget decision—it’s a painful blow to millions of families hoping for progress, healing, and answers.

For caregivers, patients, and advocates alike, this moment feels like time standing still when we desperately need momentum. We’ve seen how research saves lives, extends hope, and lights the path forward. But now, that path feels dimmed.

Still, we press on. Not with despair, but with resolve.

If this freeze concerns you, don’t stay silent. Here’s how you can help:

📞 Contact Your Elected Officials
Let your representatives know Alzheimer’s research matters. You can call, email, or write a letter. Even a short message makes a difference. Find your representatives at https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative or https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm

📝 Reach Out to Advocacy Organizations
Groups like the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or UsAgainstAlzheimer’s (usagainstalzheimers.org) are on the front lines. Join their advocacy efforts, sign petitions, or attend virtual town halls.

🗣️ Share Your Story
Sometimes, the most powerful statement is your own experience. Speak up for your loved one, for your caregiving journey, or simply for a future without Alzheimer’s.

Funding may be frozen, but our fight is not.

We keep showing up. We keep believing. We keep demanding better.

On this Veterans Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who have served our country with courage, sacrifice, and dedication. At Elder Carewise Publications, we recognize not only the physical challenges that veterans face, but also the invisible wounds—the mental health struggles that many carry with them long after their service.

The scars of war aren't always visible, and the battle for mental well-being can be ongoing. Veterans often face challenges such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, and the difficulty of adjusting to civilian life. It's crucial that we support them with compassion and understanding, ensuring they have the resources they need to heal and thrive.

Today, and every day, we stand with our veterans. Thank you for your service, your bravery, and your resilience. You are never forgotten.
