🚨 England will support a World Cup boycott.
UEFA has reportedly voted to boycott the World Cup after holding an emergency meeting on Thursday. ❌
It comes in response to highly controversial plans pushed by FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
The proposals would see FIFA selling shares in its competitions to private investors.
This would directly impact the men's World Cup, as well as the Women's World Cup taking place in Brazil next year.
Reports claim FIFA even wrote to its 211 member associations offering a massive $40m (£30m) payout if they showed support for the scheme.
The idea has sparked absolute outrage from leading organisations within the game. 😠
Reports suggest that UEFA's member associations, which includes England, have now unanimously voted to boycott the World Cup entirely if the plan goes ahead.
UEFA said: "We unanimously and unequivocally reject FIFA's proposal to transfer ownership interests in the World Cup and other FIFA competitions to private investors."
But FIFA president Gianni Infantino has defended the move, insisting the scheme is "a golden opportunity to turbocharge the development of the game globally."
He insists it is simply an offer and not an obligation, adding that the plans will still face a democratic vote.
