Stone Hut Studios Formed and run by filmmaker Aaron Dennis, Stone Hut Studios is a video production company with a mission to create ‘films for a better world.’ We create films and videos, both small and large, from YouTube videos to feature length documentaries. Our specialties include nature and documentary videography, motion timelapses, and full service post-production. Our clients include, Scholastic, PBS, USAID, Northwestern Michigan College and The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy. About Aaron Dennis Stone Hut’s founder, Aaron Dennis, has worked around the globe on film and video projects for humanitarian and educational projects. Aaron started shooting video at age 9 with his grandparents VHS camcorder. A graduate of the University of Michigan’s Cinema Arts program, Dennis began his career in Malawi, Africa filming and photographing the work of Malaria and AIDS researchers. Later he moved to New York City where he worked on several national PBS documentaries including the award-winning four-part “Supreme Court” series. He was commissioned to spend seven months in Asia filming the Tibetan communities of India, Nepal and Tibet to create a video archive of a rapidly changing culture. The importance of family and the natural world led him to return in 2008 to his beautiful hometown of Traverse City, Michigan. Stone Hut Studios was founded in 2011 and a year later released the feature length documentary, People and The Olive: The Story of the Run Across Palestine" which was directed and edited by Dennis. In 2014 Stone Hut Studios released it’s second feature doc, “Connected by Coffee”

Beneath the Surface: The Line 5 Pipeline in the Great Lakes | Great Lakes Now

We're really honored to announce that Beneath The Surface has won a 2019 Michigan Emmy Michigan EMMY Chapter - NATAS ! We produced and edited this half-hour documentary with Detroit Public Television's Great Lakes Now where it originally aired in 2018. It has since been shown on PBS all over and we hope it continues to be an educational resource about the ongoing Line 5 oil and gas pipeline controversy. To those who understand the importance of the Great Lakes, this is one of the biggest environmental issues in the world. Thank you to everyone who helped us make this project a reality!
