No electricity, no running water, no indoor plumbing. Lovina Zook grew up in one of the strictest Amish settlements started by her own family. It was common to marry cousins as most people there were related by blood and a woman would be considered an “old maid” if still single by 24 yrs old. Lovina discusses the hardest parts including struggling with mental heath, strict rules and not receiving any love or affection from parents of family members. As soon as she turned 18, she ran away in the middle of the night with the intention to become more than the Amish would ever allow.

Rosei Quartz was part of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Canada where her father became a very performative and charismatic Pastor. It never felt authentic to Rosei and things got worse when he started using stories (which were most likely fabricated) about her in his very public sermons. This put an unwelcome target on her back as a chiId that stuck with her throughout her years in the church.

As revealed in her new book "Holy Disrupter" her own chiIdhood was plagued by a narcissistic and cru*l father who would constantly take her on a roller coaster of ups and downs. Her grandfather (Jim Bob & her mother’s father) was also a character that parent’s knew could not be alone with their kids. However, there was even a time in her childhood when her grandfather lived in her home.

In today's LIVE follow up interview, we zoom in on life in an ab*sive home, the chaos and the confusion, in contrast with the life of luxury on camera and what that did to her mental health.

Meanwhile, her uncle Jim Bob’s family seemed to have everything together. Perfectly behaved chiIdren combined with an ideal and picture perfect lifestyle left her desiring a home as loving and wholesome as theirs.

However, once she was invited into their family on a more regular basis (when the producer saw money signs in Amy’s outspoken personality) the facade slowly faded when she realized her cousins were never allowed to have “negative feelings” or speak critically of other family members. Even if that meant sacrificing their own safety. She would learn the true character of one of her best friends and cousins, Josh Duggar; a secret that would shock the world.

Charlotte Hayes was adopted as a baby to Seventh-Day Adventist parents who used the doctrine to h*rm her in unimaginable ways. She was forced to eat raw vegan, not given adequate nutrients and kept dang*rously thin, while the rest of the family ate normally. On top of that, CSA started happening at age 7 and she was told it was to prepare her for being a wife. When signs of physical ab*se caught the attention of her public school, they got CPS involved, but the system was a colossal failure and only made it worse at home. She even reported the viol*ence to an SDA pastor who then reported it to the higher councils of the church, but they did nothing.
