Theodore Charleston lay beaten. The people of Afrensdale had thought he was a threat to their families, and as such, had tried to run him out of town legally. When the judge released him because it wasn't in his nature to hurt people, the community waited and watched in silence. Theodore had rounded the corner of the ally he slept in and was met with a two by four across the face. Slowly, he stood back up.
"What have I done," he asked.
"Simple," the man said, "Trash doesn't exist past Wednesdays. You have overstayed your welcome. You were given the chance to leave. You stayed. You were arrested and released. Now, We do what must be done to protect our families."
Theodore turned to run, but a mob of people were gathering. There was no escape. They knocked him down, kicked him in the lungs until his breathing became heavy. A boot caught him under the chin. His head snapped upwards. He sobbed.
"Forgive them father," he whispered, "for they know not what they do."
The air shifted to cold and someone stuck him in the back with something. His back burned as he breathed. His vision blurred as he hit the ground.
A few hours later, Snow was falling. Not white snow. This had an ominous blue glow to it. Sort of like the blue diamond geodes as crystals making their way to the ground. No one knew it yet, but their act of fear had lead to this. Hell was coming.
