It has been a very hard few days here. We have lost 3 Calfs and down to 1. 😢

Last night we lost to an uphill battle. This is the little guy that we had to carry off the sellers trailer. We knew he probably wouldn’t make it. But we gave it our best.

I’m thankful we still have one. I’m hoping to get some sleep. Thank you all who messaged me and kept my spirits up.

Thai is one of the hard realities of raising animals.

I’m so happy. I honestly thought we were going to lose this little guy overnight. He was not good yesterday.

Yesterday he laid lifeless and wouldn’t suckle. We spent the day drenching him. Even the tube feeder was too big for him. We kept him warm and kept electrolytes going into him.

This morning we went out to feed. Completely expecting him to be gone. Nope! He’s a fighter. He lifted his little head and gave us a little moo.
After some bottle suckles he decided he wanted to stand.

It’s so stressful to have sick animals. Bit don’t give up. The next few days will be critical. The next few weeks will be trying. But if we can pull him through he will be an absolute miracle.

We picked up a few bottle babies yesterday. I love bottle babies. One of them was not looking good. But I’m always up for a challenge. So, I took him too. It’s going to be a rough few days for both of is. But as long as he fights, I fight too.

Leaning Post Acres, in person, is an outpost for homesteaders, families, field trips, and livestock lovers. We offer hands-on animal care, therapeutic, nature-based experiences, and farm learning days rooted in connection, responsibility, and real-life skills.

Online, we share our story — along with tips, tricks, and educational content for those walking a similar path.

We love sharing our family’s journey and connecting with this community.
