The ones waking up with pain in their body and noise in their head. The ones rebuilding from wreckage, one choice at a time.

A Leg Up Productions was founded by Micheal Ray, a one-legged ex-con, recovering addict, and working actor chasing his shot at 57 and his life partner and U,S,Air Force veteran, Gina.

Our mission is simple:

To lift up voices that’ve been knocked down.
To entertain without pretending.
To remind anyone still battling their demons, you’re not alone.

We don’t do pity. We don’t do perfect.
We do real.

And real? Real still matters.

A Leg Up Productions is a veteran- and disability-owned film & television company founded by actor and writer Micheal Ray Breaux and his wife, a U.S. Air Force veteran and licensed mental health counselor. Together, they create raw, character-driven stories rooted in lived experience — from prison yards and trailer parks to casting rooms and Uber rides.

Born out of survival and second chances, A Leg Up develops content that amplifies underrepresented voices, especially stories of addiction recovery, disability, aging, poverty, and redemption — without the Hollywood sugarcoat. Their flagship project, A Leg Up, is a gritty, half-hour dramedy about a one-legged ex-con chasing relevance and rent money on the back roads of Tucson.

With projects like The Park (set in a West Texas trailer park) and Abilene (a modern outlaw story about two aging m**h cooks), the company blends dark humor, heartbreak, and hard-earned wisdom with the kind of authenticity you can’t fake.

This is working-class storytelling with scars, soul, and som**hing to say.
