We're supposed to get married in a week. My parents are literally crazy about him! I mean, he's all good, really, but I feel like he's not what he seems. To check, I spent a couple of days with him, and he was Mr. Generosity himself, especially in public. But I wouldn't be me if I didn't go to extremes, and that's when things got interesting.
I decided to find out the truth and pretended to be a homeless person begging for help. The horror started when he arrived at the restaurant where I was already waiting for him at the door. Evelyn had always been strong. After her husband died, she raised Helen and Alex alone, sacrificing her dreams to give them everything. But at 78, they suddenly saw her as a burden.
"I checked the shelters," Alex said. "State ones are full. Private homes... well, they're expensive."

One day, I went into my daughter’s room to call her for dinner and noticed she was crying. She had something hidden under her pillow when I walked in. Concerned, I asked what was wrong, but she tried to brush it off, saying everything was fine. My gut told me otherwise, so I checked under the pillow and found a pregnancy test. It was positive.
“You’re pregnant?” I asked, my heart sinking.
“Yes, Dad,” Stephanie replied, her voice trembling.
My initial reaction was pure anger. “What were you thinking? Are you out of your mind?”
Trying to calm down, I continued, “Stephanie, we don’t even know who the father is. Let’s just...let’s just abort this baby. You’re too young to raise a child.”

So, he owned several restaurants downtown, and you'd think he had everything, right? Everything except love. At 39, he was never married—most women were more interested in his money than him.
But then he met this 28-year-old blonde, a cashier at a gas station with a genuine smile and hands slightly dirty from handling cash all day. She was different, and he was intrigued.
