No matter how far we move forward as humans, we are still bound by the instincts and ancestral memories of our animalistic past. None of these are so strong as the fight or flight response. However, there are times when we seem to be perfectly safe, completely at ease and comfortable, when that urge...

A Tesla vehicle recently reported a chilling "phantom" detection while driving past a cemetery late at night. The car's on-screen display showed multiple full-sized pedestrians crossing directly in front of the vehicle, despite the driver confirming that no living person was visible in the area.

Tesla's self-driving technology uses an array of advanced sensors, including radar and complex vision tech, to identify objects and people even in complete darkness by reading shape, movement, and heat signatures. However, these sophisticated systems can occasionally produce "phantom readings."

Experts suggest the strange detection was likely a sensor misinterpretation, possibly triggered by reflections, headstones, or residual heat signatures. Despite the technical explanation, the eerie occurrence highlights a fascinating point: when a machine insists someone is standing there, it makes you wonder precisely what phenomenon it believes it has detected.

In 1973, an elderly man sat down.

He crossed his legs.

He closed his eyes.

He never moved again.

It looks like a scene from a movie prop department.

A preserved body wearing designer sunglasses.

But this isn't a prop.

This is the actual final resting place of a man born in 1894.

He lived on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand.

For decades, he lived a quiet, pious life.

But as he approached his 80th year, he sensed the end was near.

He didn't fear it.

He prepared for it.

He stopped eating solid food.

He drastically reduced his water intake to dehydrate his system.

He entered a state of deep, continuous meditation.

His goal was simple but incredibly difficult.

He wanted to leave his physical form behind as a lesson to others.

He told his disciples exactly what to do with him.

"If I decompose, cremate me."

"But if I do not, keep me here."

He passed away quietly while still in the lotus position.

Days turned into weeks.

The weeks turned into months.

The decomposition never came.

His skin hardened like leather.

His posture held firm.

But nature eventually took a small toll on his remains.

While his body remained intact, his eyes dried out completely.

They sank deep into his skull.

The empty sockets were unsettling for the children who came to the temple to pray.

The monks faced a difficult dilemma.

They wanted to honor his wish to be seen by the public.

But they didn't want to frighten the faithful visitors.

So they improvised with what they had.

They didn't use a mask.

They didn't use makeup.

They found a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses.

It seems strange to Western eyes.

He sits in silence.

He sits in peace.

He sits in style.

But the locals don't see it as disrespectful at all.

They see it as a bridge between the spiritual and the practical.

The glasses protect his dignity.

The body proves the power of the human mind.

He intended to be a "memento mori."

A reminder that death comes for us all.

Even fifty years later, he is still teaching that lesson without saying a word.

He just looks a little cooler doing it than he probably expected.

David B here. To all those who have submitted work in our 6 year history, I want to say thank you. I have been a writer and editor since 1971, so being at the helm of this magazine has been a labor of love for me. I hope those of you who had work accepted as well as those whose work did not get published will take the time to drop us a review on what you and yours think of the magazine.

Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from everyone.
