The big catfish were biting today. This one weighed 10lb 10oz. I called it a blue, but upon further review I am pretty sure it was a channel because it had a rounded pectoral fin. It rained on me the entire day. I ended up with 8 catfish.

Trying to go but the rain had other ideas. Actually, I have my rain suit. So long as it isn't lightening I can still go out. We'll see what that ends up doing.

Was this spot better than the Honey Hole? I've had great success at my honey hole, but this trip I decided to take a chance on a new spot nearby.

My backup plan was simple: if the new location didn't produce, I could always head back to the honey hole and save the day, afterall it was probably only 100 feet away. Thankfully, it never came to that.

This new ground didn't give me quite as many pieces as the honey hole, but the gold I found was noticeably better. Sometimes stepping outside your comfort zone pays off, and this spot definitely earned another visit.

Join me as I sample a brand-new section of the river, run the material, and see if this new spot has what it takes to become a regular producer.
