After a backpacking trip a few years ago, I swore was done with hiking boots. My feet were tired and sore, and I wished Iād just worn my light and meshy trail runners instead, even if it meant giving up protection of a leather boot.
The problem wasnāt hiking boots as a category.
It was the kind of boots I was wearing: heavy, stiff, narrow, heeledā¦aka the kind that gave me blisters and left my toes throbbing.
But after learning about barefoot shoes and the benefits of wide toe boxes and zero-drop, flexible soles, I realized that I didnāt need to give up hiking boots all together. I just need better ones.
The Lems Boulder Boots have been my go-to leather hiking boots ever since. They give me the protection and durability I want from a boot, without all the clunky downsides that made me swear them off in the first place.
If you want the good parts of a leather hiking boot (and none of the old-school misery), check out lemsshoes !

ā°ļø And I need some more hiking or backpacking inspiration! My dream for my next trip is a hut-to-hut hike through the Dolomites. Where are some of your favorite places to hike?
